I have a question to ask - is there anyone here with a new S4 ? Trying to find out if there is anyone having issues with the accelerator and a delay from pressing it down to getting a reaction from the engine. Best description is sitting stationary and planking the accelerator down, there is a delay before the engine picks up. its not turbo lag, its just like the engine doesnt respond to the immediate throttle response.....

The joys of drive by wire. It maybe worth checking with the dealer an getting it hooked up to VCDS to see if there are any software changes available.

Depending on how you feel about potential warranty issues there will be some remap specialists who could tweak the DBW software without having to play with any other settings.

I had a loan car like that from Audi, the delay was much longer than my car, was bloody lethal.

Not a fan of drive by wire stuff, I'm sure there is a good reason why we don't have 'brake by wire' in cars..

Dtuk sell a pedal box which removes the lag in a golf so I should imagine they do one for the s4. It just plugs into the pedal and changes the throttle curve. You can remove it without trace whenever you want.

Old E Class, (the one they did in the early 00's)
Merc SLR
Merc SLs

All have "brake by wire" (called SBC)

Alfa Giulia has brake by wire too. Any delay is not due to some fundamental shortcoming of the tech, some cars are just implemented poorly or intentionally introduce a delay to smooth out response.
OP, have you tried playing with the driving modes to see if that makes a difference?

You're sure its the engine rather than the gearbox which is being sluggish?
