As per title.

Large paint scuff to wing / bumper in front of front wheel, about 6 inches by 10 inches, a couple of mil in depth. Looks properly gouged.

Very tight multi-storey car park in the south of France, not paying quite as much attention as I should, scraped high kerb.

718 Cayman S, only 6 weeks old, gutted. frown

So any recommendations on Porsche paint repair places in SW London or Surrey area?

Would I indeed be best off taking it back to OPC to sort? Am guessing it'd be hideously expensive.

I think you will be horrified at the cost to repair that particularly as the car is so new, suggest you look at the Porsche approved bodyshop list which is rather short.

Maybe best as an insurance claim.

I feel for you Timbo.

Reversed my 718 into a post last week (first time I've hit anything in 25yrs years of driving).

Only very minor crease in the bumper but too much for a SMART repair.

Porsche quoted £490+VAT for a new bumper +painting+fitting. Wanted over £1000 all in. Then had hassle of getting car to their body shop (60miles away), plus no courtesy car included in the price.

My insurance is sorting. Collecting later this week.

Hope you get sorted out soon. irked

These guys are doing a cracking job on a full, glass-out respray on my project car.

Most of their work tends to be accident repair stuff.

I am going to take another car with some bumper/ paint issues to them as I am very impressed with their work.

Ask for Will and say Dom with the XSi sent you and I am sure he'll take a look and give you a fair quote.

Porsche Brooklands use Premier Panel Skills in Farnham as their approved repairer.

They've been a little slow getting me a quote though.

I thought they did this work themselves on the site.

Canada Coachworks in Byfleet used to claim to do a lot of work for the Porsche Centre there. They worked on my wife's Golf twice and were very good. Worth checking out.

Going through OPC, Porsche's approved bodyshop repairer M&A Coachworks have quoted £1,580 for the repair. frown

Guess I could get considerably cheaper elsewhere, or is this the price I pay for driving a Porsche?

If you want to go Porsche approved, I guess that's what you pay - but yes, you could definitely get cheaper elsewhere.

Last year, I span off the track and cracked my rear bumper on a landing light (F 360). By the time I took it to the bodyshop it was a spiderweb of cracks on the RH rear corner.
I assumed I needed a new bumper, but the bodyshop told me it could be repaired as new (Ferrari bumpers are fibreglass) - and said that a new bumper would require some work anyway.

So, I had the rear bumper repaired, repainted - and while it was there I wanted to get rid of stone chips. So they also painted the front bumper, bonnet and wings (I reckon then blended to about half way along the doors) - all of that cost me £100 (inc vat) more than you've been quoted.

Riviera, Grazely Green near Reading. Was the best paintwork I've had.

M&A clearly don't want the work at that price, I would keep looking

Auto Audio in Park Royal do Porsche West Londons work.
They have a good reputation for paint.

The best is not local- Greg Howell in Warwickshire.

Call my friend Paul at Autocurators of Hampshire.

https://autocurators.com/

He can get the car tip top using one of 2 great bodyshops, and then give the car a tickle over when done. He has a loan car.

He looks after multimillion pound car collections and is the only person I trust to sort my cars (wheel refurbs, paint, detailing, seat re-connolisation)

Tell him Ed sent you.

He is in Hook nr. Tylney Hall.

I would wager for the the price Porsche have quoted you he could sort the bumper and go over the whole car and ceramic coat it.

Muppets, screwed up a simple job on my 991 GTS and then lied to me. Avoid.

Received these from Claremont Coachworks this morning:

A full, glass out, respray is only costing me twice your quote and their prep etc was excellent!

I went with www.autobodytechnic.com a couple of weeks ago for this:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Cost £700 + VAT and side light. ~£860 all in. Excellent job was done and I cannot tell any hint of repair. They are the body shop 911 Virgin use.

Try GT One down in Chertsey, they did a great job for me when I needed a new bumper, wing, door and radiator (all caused by a minor bump). Trigger your insurance though as the costs soon mount up - I went from at looking at some fairly minor car park dings to speaking to my insurers about a bill for over 6K pretty quickly. Porsche paint is where the costs are and I didn't appreciate how much work was involved in blending the new paint in with the old. fortunately it was all covered by my insurance.

Hope your car gets sorted soon.

I used County Coachworks in Kingston as per previous recommendations on this website. Owner can be a grumpy sod but it's not personal- just his personality hehe

But for 6 weeks old and owned rather than leased, I would consider going oem incase resale value was questioned later by buyers.
These guys have done 2 very good bits of work for me this year.

For that sort of repair, (low down, not too prominent, different angle to surrounding paintwork) I bet you could get a decent smart repair done my a Chips Away (or similar). Should be under £200. You should be able to get a completely new bumper bought and painted for that price quoted above.

I backed into a gate post in my previous car splitting the bumper. A local body shop repaired the bumper and completely resprayed for £400.
