I’m after sounding out the forum if I may. I have a 99 996 C2 that is in good health, just given it an oil change and scrutinised the oil filter and no signs of metal, plastic or golden metallic sheen etc. I do 3000 miles a year max and driving is ‘spirited road driving.

So no issues of IMS wear etc but I am at the juncture of thinking of either selling the Car as I very much fancy having a roadster again for the summer or I keep and invest in the car. So my question is what are the IMS options and what is the best value for money based on limited annual mileage ?

The Autofarm option from what I understand is a permanent fix but is twice the price of the ceramic LN Engineering option. The LN Option is not a permanent fix but more durable a reliable but will need replacing.

Are there any other options. I know I have the dual row IMS which from what I have read is more robust but I think if I keep the car , then I would want the peace of mind regardless of the fact that my car is absolutely fine with no signs of failure.
Apologies, I don’t want to go over old ground but is more a case of asking for opinions based on how much mileage I do. I’m kind of thinking the LN option would last me over 10 years of happy motoring .

Many Thanks

I got this one when I had my 996 - it came recommended by the Porsche specialist I used.

If there's no sign of wear then leave it alone.

+1

Remove dust shield when having clutch change but otherwise just leave it as it is.
