My 991 GT3RS suffered a PDK failure on track a couple of weeks ago. I would be interested to hear if anyone has had a similar experience. Videos of the failure are below.

I was at the end of the second of two fifteen minute runs and beginning my cool down lap when the car began to sound terrible and the gear changes became slow and clunky (to the extent you could feel them in the seat). There was no warning light, no immediate loss of drive no indication anything was wrong. We were probably about a kilometer from the pits but made it back wondering if it was a fuel issue. As we pulled into the garage a PDK reverse gear warning light came on, and the car just stopped.

Temperature was moderate (25-30). The car is 7 months old with about 13k KM on the clock.

Porsche have told me that the car suffered a mix of coolant, transmission fluid and engine oil. The gear box is being replaced (PAG initially offered a refurbished box and the car back on the road within two weeks, but have agreed to a brand new PDK – but who knows how long that will take).

Has anyone had similar issues? Any advice on whether there could be any other damage to the car that I should ask Porsche to check or address?

Google 991 pdk failure - seems to be a few failures and may give an indication if anything else needs looking at.

Maybe get Porsche to explain exactly what has happened and why? It will help diagnose if anything else has suffered during the pdk failure. However I'd expect the garage done this and to have at least give everything the once over.

Anyway good that Porsche warranty covers the car on track and you have 29 months of warranty to go (assuming you have a 3 year one)

What was the cause of failure, the extra stresses caused by track work or build error?
