Hi All,

Knowing full well what 'Assume' stands for , I wanted to check if all Porsche 986 Boxster headlights are fully compatible with my 1998 996 ? I'm after a replacement pair and want to make sure that the fitment, locking mechanism, wiring etc are all standard with my 996. I believe they are (and most are listed as fitting both on e-bay) but an expensive hobby to get wrong

Thanks in advance

Jeremy

Yes. Am actually running Boxster headlights in the 996 at the moment. My LHD ones are Boxster, my RHD are 996 - swap them over for respective countries.

Design911 list both LED headlamps (LED for sidelights and indicators only) and standard headlamps as fitting all 986/996 1998-2001 models

996 and 986 headlights are interchangeable but are different. They have different patterns in the reflectors

Different part numbers in PET

Are you sure one numbers not for Xenons (not sure if 986 came with them as an option or not).

No - I have seen the different types side by side. Paul @ PH Sportscars explained it to me

Probably in an attempt to stave off the "he's got a Boxster with exactly the same front as me" issue.
