Road trip of a lifetime

Not all hope is lost
Those are some amazing pictures and cars - am sure that was a brilliant trip. How was traffic at this time of the year - still manageable?
Desperate to get my car back and do a road trip again - even if only a weekend trip into the Alps - will of course post pics once I have sth to report

The thing about road trips is, you can plan pretty much everything, cater for any eventuality or mechanical failure - even with the best will in the world, the one thing you can't book, is the weather!
I organised our trip in August 2015 - 3 x M3s, 3 x 911s and an Aston Martin. The plan was to drive to the Alps, do 15 Alpine passes over 3 days and finish with a weekend at the Nurburgring. The drive down from Yorkshire to Switzerland (875 miles in 13 hours with lots of rain), was horrible and made me quite apprehensive about what the weather would do over the following few days.
I needn't have worried though as the next 3 days were mostly blue sky & dry! The drive up to Nurburg uneventful, but the weekend at the Ring topped off what is one of the best trips I've ever been a part of...
A few mine:
Phenomenal trip!

You are right about the weather, I took the wife last year only for it to be rainy and misty the whole time in Switzerland. Good excuse to try again though.

Convoy of 5x911R, 3x991GT3RS, 2x993RS... and one 718S.
14 Alpine passes in 4 days.
Pure magic.
