6'3", 35" inside leg... no problems in 996 with stock seats and stock 4 spoke wheel.

Would like the wheel a touch closer though.

6'2", 996.1, had to remove the lower centre console (AKA GT3 console delete) to get enough room for my left leg, would be able to get the chair further back on it's runners if the wheel adjusted for reach, but it doesn't - unless you get the boss from Carnewal, but I can't bring myself to spend 600 euro on what is, effectively, a big washer.

Lot's of praise for both, as a C2 owner the C4S is definitely the best looking! Downside is, they are a lot more expensive now, is the premium worth it for you?

Lot's of people will say there is very little between a base C4 & a C2, buy the best of either example, I've never driven a C4 so have no valid opinion.
I'm not sure, agreed there is quite a premium, from a buying point of view a base C2 / 4 is better in that it would give a bit in reserve for some tweaks / maintenance maybe... and a decent one can be had for potentially less than maybe a poor C4S...

How does the 996 compare to the Boxster on cabin size? Is it exactly the same or is there a bit more space? Do the seats go back that little bit more, I find the boxster (with sports seats) can feel a little cramped at 6ft...
Moved from a 986 to a 996 and 996 cabin feels a LOT bigger and more open.

Weirdly, the centre console doesn't get in my way in the slightest !

Any kind of aftermarket wheel using a standard 6-bolt boss gives you options for adjusting the reach. It just makes it a bit of a stretch to the indicator stalks.

In a 986 the seat hits the bulk head before it is fully back. Therefore in the 996 you can get the seat back a good few more clicks. I have one of these wheels in mine with added rake. You can see my knees go up behind the wheel. I'm almost 6 2.

I'm more leg than arm, if that makes sense. I'd like to keep the OEM 3 spoke wheel, which (I believe) limits me somewhat.

i am 6ft 4" and find that the steering wheel is bit low for my liking. Or I should say I sit too high in the car. I have the sports seats and sun roof. Hair is brushing against the roof. I think you can buy less padded seat cushions for a hefty sum of money.

Back to the original subject, I love the aerokit rear wing and also the "bark" that they make with a decent sports exhaust when you start them up. I also like the fact that after nearly 20 years, they still feel solid generally which isn't so normal with many modern cars!

I've read on some boxster threads that the 9x7 seats fit straight into the 9x6 platform and position you lower down.

Yep, that's definitely the sort of weather that really gives you a taste of Spa! Lovely looking motor.

Also, having just switched to a 997, I can still say - totally without bias - that although the 997 interior is more modern, I still think I prefer the retro-cool ambience of the 996.

Utter perfection. Everything you need, in the right place, and nothing more. Simplicity, function and very neat design IMHO. Cup steering wheel is the icing on the cake.

I always have a wee chuckle at seeing the changes that took place when marketing men took over - a leather dash/side airbags/non-working electrical cut out switch in a car, which supposedly was race ready... laugh

Although, to be fair to the car (and driver bow) - 2.24 on presumably semi-slicks around Silverstone would have put you right at the front of our grids clap where some seriously fast and expensive E46 M3s are

Have any fellow 996 owners had their steed ceramic coated? Been offered a good deal from my local detailer and thinking worth a go. You generally only hear of newer cars having this done, but surely can only be a good thing?

This is a 21 year old Volvo that has been ceramic coated:

I'll get getting it done to the 996 once it's repainted.
