Love the look of mine and regularly just take a photo just because I can.

Tonight in Porthleven

A few weeks ago at a very wet car show in Wadebridge

I picked the Volvo up from the dealer today after work, drove it home and parked up.

It's more powerful than the 996, coil-overs, has bigger brakes - feels like I'm driving a sofa.

I'll take the long way round in the 996 as it's just so much fun - the Volvo I drove straight home.

The Volvo can put a grin on your face - but it's only when you find a bit of road where it can stretch it's legs as 500Nm and 370bhp can get 1,600kg of car to move quite briskly. The 996 can be enjoyed at much lower speeds simply because everything is so precise, the steering so pleasing to use to place the car just-so.

I'm about to start modifying mine and my critical metric for success is to lose nothing in terms of it's road manners, just to make the car that bit more composed, the engine that bit angrier. We'll see how close I get.

Let me turn back the question: Why would you NOT love a 996?

Driving and riding as a passenger in GT3s does make me wonder how much (and what sort of) engine noise is kept out of the cabin in my 996tt? I'm guessing that on the C2 and C4 cars also, there's likely more noise insulation than a GT3? That, on its own, might unlock a bit more anger and intent from the engine note.

Well, if you are talking about the 996 GT3...this was bought last month because a GT3 Clubsport is basically 98% of a 996 GT3 RS

and then fettled a bit - all reversible of course in case anyone is horrified smile

I know its all eye of the beholder stuff but I find the 996 shape (any variant) an attractive looking 911!

Lovely cloud9

I keep coming back to BBS LM wheels for mine, either that or OZ Superleggeras.

I think they look great if the car has the aero package, I think they'd look slightly out of kilter on a standard car.

But that said these things can look different when done of course.

No Clubsport (what's the point anyway? the .2 doesn't come with a single mass flywheel like the .1 CS and everything else is just cosmetics). Front bumber and air intake from RS but I prefer the standard wing over the RS wing, so I'll stick to it.

Cheers. BBS LMs are the 'go to' rim however difficult to find used.

Yes

It's properly slammed. I bought it like this. Tricky KW Clubsport dampers with remote reservoirs. Corner weight and geo too. Its seriously darty and stays really flat. I can't get it out of shape no matter how daft i am with the steering. Will also get into the air on small bumps, one near me in particular if you hit it at over 100. Its great fun.

There's a guy I follow on Instagram that has a standard car on LMs. It looks really good, part of me wants something a little different though.

That and used sets are hard to find and I can't justify shelling out for a new set right now. I do have a lovely new bathroom instead though laugh
