Maybe the wrong thread … but after some 997 advice … I am thinking of a 997 as a track and very occasional road car, likely 5-10 track days per year.

I am not upto speed on 997.1 v 997.2 and the GT3 CS v GT3 RS

I have seen a nice 997.1 GT3 CS and a 997.1 GT3 RS .. questions

1. Is the GT3 RS worth the premium over the CS (£40k) both in terms of car today and potentially future values ?

2. Should I be looking at 997.2 as opposed 997.1 ? Eg a 997.2 GT3 CS (think RS will be too expensive) ?

Any other thoughts ?

Thanks

I'd buy the best car available no right or wrong. Rs a bit more hardcore and those gorgeous wide body hips. Earlier cars nicer on road both RS and CS. Later cars better on track.

Just returned home after a 12 night road trip / holiday around Scotland in my GT3.

Just over 2000 miles all in, the car has been without fault, not bad for a 2010 car.

It’s been blooming awesome on the roads up there.. fantastic front end feel and grip with super stable cornering, amazing engine that really roars from 4K revs, very firm and reassuring brakes, great gearbox and ratios and the folding carbon buckets keep you firmly wedged are very comfy.

Overall I love my 997 a great car.

Now where shall we go next year driving

Whoooo..... This is nice!!!
I'd go for a bit retro and fit a ducktail; gen 1 rear lights; black rear stone guard film; black Porsche lettering; 18" Fuchs; Pepita (houndstooth) fabric imnserts for those buckets cloud9

White 911's need to be a a bit retro to work, imho

ETA: shame it has no leather dash .... frown

EATA: a right, the GTS' wheels have central hubs ....
But it seems that Fuchs do a classic Fuchs wheel with central hubs, but only in 20"

Any recent advice on replacing engine mounts? I think at 15 years and 70k miles it is time to refresh mine in my C2. Seems to be one of those universally praised bit of maintenance by everyone who does it.

General consensus seems to be that aftermarket OEM style mounts fail quite quickly so go for OEM or a semi-solid RSS/Rennline/Rohler just be aware of the extra NVH. Any recommendations?

Think carefully before you go the semi solid engine mount route. Hopefully not teaching you to suck eggs, but Jake Raby of Flat Six Innovations is the US equivalent of Baz at Hartech:

A good £10/15K undervalued unless there are significant mechanical issues which I doubt. Strange how that could be priced, seemingly, so wrongly.

Agree that it's undervalued. The seats alone are worth £7k!

I don't see a sport button and I don't see a sport chrono clock?

I wouldn‘t mind the missing SC on a manual car. And I prefer the look without the wart! The new watch (like time telling watch) on the newest 992 is nice tough.
But explaining to your date why you have a watch stuck to your dash that doesn‘t tell the time is a bit …. daft.

And while it is nice to have a sportier throttle map than normal on a everyday car the missus drives too, i prefer my analogue sports car to have just one map.

But like I said before, shame about the missing leather. The 997 really needs it, imho.
