Anyone got a photo of a 997 with 18” alloys? I am thinking of getting these rims but they only do them in 18” as far as I know. frown

Factory 18's on a dirty 997.1

Is it just me or is the 997 just getting better and better looking with age? The newer cars seem to be getting bigger and maybe fussier? Not bad looking, just maybe moving further away from the ‘911’ shape / proportions.

Small print : I might be a bit biased

The 997 has always been the best modern 911 from a 'looks' point of view

So I had a 992 Carrera GTS for a couple of days this week whilst the Macan was in for a service. And it was lovely, but way too fast and it did feel big. I have never driven a 997, I had a 987 Cayman S, is the 992 actually that much bigger? Or did it just feel like it? I was considering a 992 T when it got announced but after 36 hours it reaffirmed my want to do a 997 Project.... I think, I think.....arghhh!

You started your sentence with SO…. headache ….. hehe

Is it you that’s getting a bit of abuse on the Liverpool thread? I have been banned from all the football threads because of something I put on one! Not sure what was so bad confused

Anyway Yid.. do a 997 project. They are awesome cars. Even entry level stuff! cloud9

Probably the wrong thread for a balanced opinion but I’m with mario - a project 997 Modified to suit your own personal preferences would be fantastic! If you get it right then there’s simply no competition

Ok - now you lit have convinced me that I need a bit of a project 997 too… but I’ve had my years of dicking around with cars incessantly so I’m thinking some light tweaking.

Base car needs to be a gen 2 non sunroof S or GTS
I’m not fussed about the gearbox - PDK would be nice but it’s just extra effort to look after.
Folding buckets too.

I've modified my 997.1 as a tribute to the sport classic but without the brown interior. I've opted for folding buckets, short shift kit, momo wheel, ducktail & Fuchs alloys. Wrapped with stripe too. Love it.
Would only change it for a gt3 rs.

Ahhhh don't worry, it decided..... well the only thing I need to decide upon really is whether I am a 911 or a Cayman guy, but with the littleun now its going to be a 997 most likely.

Anyway, some ideas. I have been looking for a high miler, the lady actress one above is perfect as its sub 20k. But essentially the job sheet involves:

Engine rebuilt with Hartech and go to 4.0 whilst at it
Full respray to Fjord Green (I have been eyeing up this colour for 18 months now, its pretty rare, but all of a sudden its back on the PTS roster) CSR Ducktail... I suck air through my teeth at the price of that.
Full Suspension refresh and most likely some KW coils
Headers, 200cel Cats and Swithcable Exhaust (I'd like to bring the noise but it has to be useable too and not totally obnoxious when required)
Wheels: Always liked BBS CH-R's but have been looking at some BCForged items and they look fantastic, but the BBS has a bit more of an OEM feel.
CarPlay - Did this on my 987 Cayman and Pioneer units look as OEM as possible and replacing whatever Bose left with some Focal stuff - I do like cursing to tunes too.

If I have any money left from the £50k allocated, interior trimming. Then..... never ever sell. I should probably start a project thread at some point

Just had to Google Fjord Green. Never seen it before. It would look superb on a 997 and probably unique. Maybe Fuch wheels would look well with this colour! cloud9 Wheels make such an impact to the overall appearance!

I can assure everyone I am not in anyone's heads!

And yes, Fjord Green is an old 356 colour, I haven't seen it on another 997 in my searches, doesn't mean one doesn't exist somewhere, but it would be pretty rare. It is a flat colour, I do wonder about maybe whether asking some of these new paint boffins to mix it up with a bit of subtle gold fleck in it. Its between that and Viola Metallic which I also love, or a deep metallic blue.

You can lose hours and hours on this website https://www.colors.rs/colors
