Posted a couple of weeks ago about 997.1 purchase. Spent as much time admiring the looks as driving it. Had to learn about the best driving position which is more upright than expected, but feels quite natural now. Obviously it doesn’t take long before looking at upgrades and a DSC Sport pasm controller seems to a good option for improving mainly road handling. Anyone using one and/or looking to sell one?
As an aside, got a wave yesterday from a fellow 911 chap which was nice. Had many waves in the early days of Tesla, so shall be returning the acknowledgement.

Be sure to source the correct model - some need an additional 3-axis accelerometer (which I don’t think the non-turbo gen 1 997s came with).
Alongside a set of MP4S tyres they turn into a car Porsche should have released in the first place.
Thoroughly recommended even at RRP.

"the car has never been abused" From the look of it, I beg to differ.
^^^ bare bones of a nice 997 there if you take off all the cheap tat.
From the ridiculous to the sublime IMO.
This drop dead gorgeous 997 turbo has been tuned by Nine Excellence in Horely to up to 750PS and currently being restored by Porsche Reading's classic restoration team.
I have a time warp 2006 997 turbo and there's a strong temptation to pick up the phone to 9e/OPC Reading having seen what is possible if you raid the Porsche Motorsport parts bin. Meeting up with owner to have a look around this wonderful project.

Yes his car had been resprayed to a poor standard by a previous painter who are friends of 911 Virgin and were recommended by them. Porsche had to go back to bare metal to sort previous repair. He's also redoing interior next perhaps via Porsche AG and actually wants to add sound insulation in order to quieten tyre roar. He is not taking weight out other than adding folding buckets and rear seat delete. Super project. He thinks car will weigh in at 1550kgs after he's finished maybe a bit more depending on weight of extra sound deadening material. Its a piano finish better than factory according to Porsche Reading. I shall report back in a few days. With the money people are spending on air cooled restomods nowadays I think this stacks up quite well as a useable old classic. 2006-2012 were good years for the 911 turbo.

Indeed. But think the only problem with this kind of project is that the thing will be so bloody perfect, will it actually get used? That's the problem with chasing this kind of perfection. The end result is too good to be used!Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
