This is a lovely example. It is ALL the money at £45k for a nice spec .1.

Just an example of the market does not really know where to place these cars.
Think the wheels are Carrera Classics and not Sport Design BTW.

I'm torn between the three in the middle. I don't like the Lobster or the Turbo wheels personally.
My 997 came with the SportDesign wheel and while I like it, like most other man I'm contemplating alternatives all the time. biggrin

Oh and of course there is the standard 18" Carrera wheel. I have this with winter rubber. A really simple, clean wheel design imho

I'd go for the 997 oem Carrera S II wheels.

I like number 1 and number 4, both set to max outside, so proper filling, so I guess with some small wheel spacers to get the right stance.

I have no 4 on a C4S with 5mm Porsche spacers all round.

I don't like the standard Porsche spacers. They are just a big washer. You can get some much better looking or engineered spacers from .. I'll get a link.

... H&R ?

That is what I have on mine. IIRC 10mm 5mm front and 15mm at the rear (per side).

See that black one on the far right of the box which is just a big flat washer - I dislike this type.

That is what I have (DR ABE in silver, not black). They come with longer bolts of course and it has a center hub.
The other type, where you screw the spacer plate onto the hub and then the wheel onto the plate, only works from a certain thickness upwards.

What system do you prefer and why don't you like washer style type?

This listing says they are for a Panamera. But hopefully you get the idea. There are 3 prongs on your hub which are tapered. As the wheel bolts down they pinch on the inside of the wheel and make it snug. Adding a big flat washer ruins this. You can get some thin spacers like those shown below which have gaps for the hub's prongs and provide new prongs to mimic the ones you are replacing / rendering useless.

On my 981 the rear wheels are so snug on these prongs [without spacers / washers] I have to use a rubber mallet to get the wheels off - once I've removed the wheel bolts. I've tried some flat 5mm washer type spacers and the wheels just fall off. I'm no engineer so maybe someone will tell me this is rubbish. But I still think the snugger the better.

Even mintier X51

Quite a price but could very well be worth it, find another!

The X51 is fantastic I had a 2007 C4S and they really howl.

Yep, gotta be the Carrera II alloys. Why oh why did I sell this car? And for a Ferrari 599 of all things…utter madness! Now on the search for another manual 997.2 Carrera S and this time it will be a keeper.

I've got the Carrera Classic on my C4S and love them. One spect not to be underestimated in long-term ownership is how easy they are to clean all the way inside the wheel. Initially I wanted the Carrera Sport but now wouldn't even consider them, as much as I think they look nicer.

Also hate the turbo wheels on a non-turbo, and the polished finish (which most new cars seem to come with these days).

Big love for those two adverts of X51 cars, absolutely lovely colours in both! Would struggle to pick one...

Very nice. I really like those wheels on the Targas along with the chrome around the windows.

What was the 599 ownership like?
