To my eye, the 997 is the prettiest 911 of all time. When I see them on the road they always turn my head.

My 997.1 c2 needs coil packs, AC condensers, coolant pipes, wiper blades, minor service and something else in the region of £200. All in very close to 3k

She's beautiful but is she turning into a money pit.....?

It's never going cheap running a 10+ year old car, especially a Porsche. I've spent over £6k on mine since May, some essential work, a service and a lot of "nice to have" stuff. I don't regret a penny of it!

Is that OPC or indy?
Sounds like it might be priced for engine drop, is that the case?

I don't usually like Carrera Classic wheels, but they look great in black on that car.

I love them, I think they add a certain something to the look.

I liked the colour so much I was debating whether to have the sport designs refinished the same, in the end I played it safe!

Just sold my 997.1 after 30,000 miles.

drove it everyday, used it for leisure and work,

Sold it for 75% of what I bought it for

Missing it already

(we do have sunshine up here in Cumbria, but I just think shiny shiny photos need some balancing out smilesmilesmile

Halfords Essentials Group 3 Booster Seat - Black

"Halfords Essentials Group 3 Booster Seat Extra Info:
Suitable for ages 4-12 years (approx 15-36kg)
We recommend cushion boosters are used from 22kg and up"

They're a bit pricey

A couple of action shots of mine from this year..

Firstly whilst fitted with the standard wheels shod with PS4s tyres:

After a major service I fitted some upgrades including GT3 shifter, GT3 front brake ducts, upgraded pads / discs, more track orientated geo and for track work some OZ Ultraleggera HLT wheels in GT3 widths / offsets along with Cup 2 tyres in 245 front / 305 rear sizes:

They all do that sir.....
I asked the Indy to look at the car in detail so that I knew where I stood with it

In addition to coil packs, wiper blades, wheel balancing, coolant pipes, AC condensers and something else I can't remember the specifics of, it needs several other items. Which over the phone sounds like another 4k. Dude is sending me a itemised list tomorrow. Probably 7-8k all in.

This is obviously before the IMS goes or the 997.1 engine bore scores

I think this is heading to wbac. Feeling sad

I have always found the best way to run older vehicles is through a steady maintenance programme; things that must be done get priority, with a sub-list of what will need done shortly and a sub-sub-list of longer term priorities (usually cosmetic). I do a lot of work myself and invest some of the money saved on quality or specialist tools and decent/OEM parts. Obviously I'm not going to do a clutch on the driveway and for that I pay a garage, but I shop around for parts and I fix a price beforehand. I have a guy I trust, whose work is good and who sticks to what we have agreed, whilst pointing out things to be aware of for the future.

If you go to a garage and say give me a list of what needs done, you may get back £7-8K, but how much needs done now? If they are not busy, you could end up with a huge list.

Paying someone £80-100 or more per hour to fit wiper blades and other simple tasks is an expensive route to take. Any decent tyre fitters will balance your wheels for a reasonable amount. Coil packs are about £40 each and it's two bolts and a plug to undo and redo. I had the condenser on the missus' Mini replaced - MINI wanted £600 plus the cost of the re-gas. An OEM part was £160 (could have had one for less than half that) and the local A/C guy fitted it and re-gassed it for £150.

I suppose what I'm saying is accept that you might need £3k a year, but spend it in instalments and plan it out.

Bore-scoring is another story . . .
