I was talking to owner of this 997.1 4S yesterday. It was well optioned from factory and I noticed the centre console was black instead of the gen 1 grey. Was that a factory option as it really lifted the cabin vibe IMO.

You mean the whole PCM and AC area?

I've only ever seen this in grey. But surely Porsche would you relieve you of several thousands if you really want this customised. Surely a handy DIYer could tackle it with a rattle can and a load of masking tape.

You should of got a pic.
Yes, tricky as it's a local car I've seen glimpses of the last few months and finally bumped into him in shop car park. I had to keep my distance chatting to him through open window.

Not sure if they were genuine Fuchs, but IMO a dark colored widebody 997 on Fuchs is a true classic shape/stance

What impact did the clutch and fly wheel make?
Never think about the clutch (big compliment)
Flywheel massively improves the engines ability to rev It’s awesome 👏

Those CSRs lovely. Whats the KW set up you have like on an average b road?

I've got kw clubsport on my early 996 and there is quite a bit of adjustment so you can have them rock hard or quite hard. Some people's hard is another person's quite hard so it's all quite subjective. Mine are probably due a refurb so it's hard to give them a fair review as mine were on the car when I bought it. It's the hardest setup I've driven on any car ever. They were rock hard when I got the car but I backed them off a bit.

So if the road ahead gets uneven they can get unsettled and you get bounced around. But the car has loads of feedback and I'm not sure if that's just the car or the firmer setup so I'm not sure I wanna change it if that makes sense. If the average b road you favour is fairly smooth then my car is super planted. It has way more grip than I have balls with virtually zero body roll.
It’s brilliant very compliant for everyday yet somehow manages to get better the harder you push have previously owned 997 c2s. 997 GT3. 997 turbo all manual........ it’s streets better

My GTS (manual) on the NC500 this time last year. Great trip on fabulous roads, and great memories to look back on during lockdown.............not sure when those of us considered "high risk" will be able to get out and about, but got some great video clips and photos to remind me of what to look forward to!

Dunno if this is heresy but I've always liked the old fashioned 19" Lobsters. Can these be fitted to later 997.2 or were they 997.1 only?

Lovely on the right colour IMO.

Quick question on the KW suspension - do they use the existing PASM button / controller or do they have a separate system? I have a DSC box on my Gen 2 and would like retain this as I have custom settings for road and track. I know the Bilstein B16 dampers use the existing controller but it would be good to have another option to look into as well. Cheers.

They are exactly the same cars except for the engines and some other tweaks like infotainment and maybe master cylinder / abs type control. What I do know from my 997 days is there are different width lobster wheels. I think all fronts are the same width but there were 2 different width rears. One for the C2 body and one for the wider C4 body. So just bear this in mind. There are loads of sties where you can check the specs. Just check the width and offset. That is all you need to know.

I didn't even know these existed so just google'd it. RicM5 mentioned DDC in his spec list. See pic and link here which implies it is full on active trickery but just by KW. So yeah it could be soft and hard with active control. Nice.

Sorry SD I hate to be a bore but they only include the 2wd offset for the rears where as on the wider body 4wd it is different. I thought it was a wider rim but this says it is not wider rim just 15 mm different offset - or shared with the GT models which use 4wd body I think.

No idea if this is gen 1 only or same on gen 2.

Not being a bore at all !! Everyday is a school day. It's interesting to know.
I assumed (wrongly) the 9.5" option was the non - S narrow body option (which with hindsight it is, but there appears to be difference between the C4S and C2S rear offsets) which is just plain weird ... scratchchin

Right - 9.5 is for the mid engine cars.
