Ah fantastic do you have any pics?
There's a thread a couple of years back. The first post has an interior pic of the doors: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=15... If the budget had been unlimited I would have gone for OEM Cup items or Manthey racing but GT-Racing did the job. The windows were from a UK company (can't rememember the name) but are going milky several years later, so I might think about replacing them soon.M32GER,
Just read this from the beginning (I know, I know, time is sparse, so I don't get on here often) and I'm now an avid fan. Can't wait for the next installment...which I'll no doubt catch up on in June
Regarding your 997.2 (which also looked great) can I ask what suspension you were running?
Thanks, and keep up the good work.

I'd be surprised if it's not transferring some loads. I think that the default lightweight roof material for Porsche is magnesium currenlty. Carbon would be a cheaper option but they wont take it. Impact absorbtion could be a bigger factor but they are happy to use carbon on other unstressed areas of factory racing 911's. My guess is that the roof panel does transfer some load.
The roof skin on all 99x cars is just that - sheet metal with ZERO load bearing. It does nothing to stiffen the chassis at all. Remember you could order the 997.1 GT3 with a sunroof! Carbon tends to shatter on impact and could in theory allow foreign objects into the cabin if you end up on your roof. That's all... Btw, the special glue that is used to bond windscreens/the carbon roof skin on all BMW M-Power cars like the M3, M4 and M6 is actually stronger than a traditional spot weld used to attach a steel roof skin to the chassis rails

Hi D.no many thanks for the nice words. Yes sure, that was a KW V3 suspension with RSS front lower control arms + shims for extra camber. For this build I have opted to upgrade to the KW Clubsport kit.Just read this from the beginning (I know, I know, time is sparse, so I don't get on here often) and I'm now an avid fan. Thanks Pete,
I ran V3's and a lot of front neg-camber on my CSL. Good on track, but a tad tiring on the road (necessary compromise). I'm guessing it was similar story with the 997 application?
Back to your project: Gold/bronze wheel centres work well with Viper Green.... http://www.speedhunters.com/2016/08/balance-everyt...
(Youtube screen grabs - so not great quality)
...I'm very envious, and echo some of the other sentiments about how refreshing it is to read about something other than overs, price gouging, and dealer reach-arounds. Top marks.

Yes you are right road application not as good although not too bad if click the bump and rebound back to the softest settings and doesn't take long to do. Roads out in the UAE are very smooth though, better than most race tracks ; ) thanks for the tip on the wheel centre caps, will consider that option but do also have a set readyI ran V3's and a lot of front neg-camber on my CSL. Duck tail and original GT3 spoiler also back from paint shop. Going with the duck tail as mentioned before but will keep the GT3 spoiler safely to one side. Of course I lose all the down force benefits of the wing that Mr Preuninger and his team so carefully designed but on the plus side it looks cool and I save 4kg ; )
