Did you weigh the car before and after? How much weight was taken out? What were the main contribution from?
Seats
Exhaust
Roof
Windows
Carpets
Door cards
Battery

Anything else?

Hi Jon

Stupidly I was in such a hurry to crack on that I didn't get the car weighed before we started and have yet to weight it since completed. I did however weight all individual components changed out and added in (a good number of those pics are earlier in the thread). The overall result and line by line breakout is below.

So about 100kg down give or take. It certainly feels very light and agile. Through the corners it is really on point. More nimble to be honest than the 991s as I am able to pull a gap consistently. Down the straights the 991.1s have a very very slight advantage but not enough to pass which just shows the benefit of shedding that kind of weight since my engine (3.6) is still stock with just the bolts ons mentioned above and the ECU remap not yet done.

So

The performance relative to later cars is irrelevant surely. Your car will feel nicer.

Ah shame we're always up for a good natter in between sessions. I think the guys were just a bit stressed trying to make sure all went smoothly for me. Actually we had a minor coolant leak so decided to call it a day mid way through but will be back ready for the next one

Great job looks fantastic. One question if I'm reading this correctly the sunroof adds 10kg vs a standard roof ? - thought it was quite a bit more than that ?

Thank you Chris.

Ape50, yes to be honest I also thought it was going to be more and was a little disappointed with the saving although there are two lines in the table for the total saving of about 13kg. I was initially excited when I saw the weight reading in the below picture at 25 until I later realised the scales had defaulted back to lbs and not kg. So the sunroof, mechanism and OEM lining is 25lbs (11.3kg) and I allowed 1.1kg (generous) for the new lining meaning 10.2kg saved. Then to be honest I forgot to weigh the rest of the OEM roof panel but when reading online everyone saying the non sunroof component is actually light anyway and only a couple kg different vs a carbon replacment. So in the end I got to c. 13kg saved. Mind you that is still 13kg at the highest point on the car.

Thanks rotate

It did take some time to pull together.

When I get time I will also show the same for the line by line build cost as requested by a few people as I set out planning to share every single part of the build with people and hopefully help a few others weigh up their own mods. It is going to be eye watering though. We are talking 991.1 GT3 territory all in even despite a relatively cheap higher mileage base car.....

I’m late to this party but wanted to say congrats to M32GER on this build. This is a wonderful unique car that looks amazing and no doubt drives the same. Wishing you many happy road and track miles ahead!

Have you tracked it yet with the ducktail on?

A friend of mine has a 997 Gt3 and has seen my6.2 GT3 with ducktail and wants one now but weve been talking about the aero and handling with a ducktail on (neither of us are engineers so its all pub talk sort of thing). But just wondered if you had any bum seat time to compare?

It wont make much difference. I know of a 997 cup that lost it's rear spoiler during a Carrera cup race. Talking to the driver afterwards he said that his times were no slower after he'd lost it and he didnt need to modify his driving.

I guess it depends a lot of the track, bend 18 at Spa would get me twitching at 170MPh sans wing lol

Blanch 2? Mmmm.. Possibly but it's reasonably easy flat in a cup, but a fatty road car on road tyres?

You may be right
