Definately go manual San, but would you still keep the 997.2 RS
Would be very difficult. Would run both side by side and make a decision.
That's a great situation to be in and a comparison process more than worthy of a video.

100%...sadly I don't see myself being offered one any time soon.

Hopefully the .2 RS then? Would be an even more poignant comparison.

I agree with this totally..When i did my GT3 day at the PEC i found the kickplate easy in the gen 2 GT3..In fact it never caught me out once even with all the nannies off..I think this is more a reflection of the GT3s reaction speed rather than my quick reflexes..
However my instructor did comment on my reflexes, perhaps a welcome trait from being constantly nervous and on edge..hehe
On a 981S the kick plate at the PEC was such a non-event that we quickly moved on to the area past the kick plate. And no, I'm not (and never was) a driving god. I couldn't hold the 981 on full opposite lock on the wetted track after the kick plate - which the instructor did with ease.

We shall have to see. Had it confirmed i've missed out on the second round of allocations. 997.2rs and 991.2RS would be quite a nice pair. One manual, one pdk.

One manual, one PDK for keeping both, or both manual for a very interesting 'shoot-out' comparison...

Went for a drive this morning as it's a nice day. Relatively salt free too. Particularly impressed with the overtaking ability in 6th. As I only have 4k revs available it's a must but who needs turbos or PDK?!

hehe Now even I never did that.

On the kick plate, I felt the GT3/RS the quickest and easiest to correct and control really.
The kick plate can be a b*astard!
Oh I hate that kick plate. With actual oversteer you feel which way it's going to go, that kick plate, I could not get the hang of.

I think this is my fave pic so far. White, silver rims, black accents / stripe. So simple yet so effective. Love the decal.
I like it too, but wonder whether a bonnet/roof stripe would not add the killer touch? For me, this combination of colour and decal on the 991.1 GT3 is a winner.

I love the look, so much so that I'm going to try it out on my 997 GT3.
I know I'm going to make myself unpopular with this comment - but I prefer the look of the 991.1 at the front than the 991.2 - It looks far more organic and sits better with the side profile of the car IMHO - the 991.2 has that angular fold on the front nose section line that doesn't work as well with the curvature of the side profile - all IMHO

Wouldn't throw either out of bed though smile
Well I still haven’t reached the front of the que for a new GT3 so for the time being I’ve opted for a nice spec .1 with PCCB’s. Funny thing I had the stripe kit fitted at my request!

Massive thanks to Jon and Justin at Porsche Mayfair for great service and arranging a perfect handover 👍

The kick plate is initially purely a test of how quick a driver's reflexes are..nothing more..If a driver has ultra quick reflexes then nothing short of a GT3/RS will manifest itself as any other Porsche including GTS's doesn't react fast enough IME.

I must be too old now as my reactions were only quick enough 2 out of 6 times on the kick plate. It was all about throttle control though with me, if I kept the car balanced I kept it straight.

Kick pate is very easy, most people over correct and you don’t have to be as fast as you think.

wait for it don’t try and guess it, add a 1/4 turn on the wheel, jobs done.

If you over correct you just get a tank slapper, or if you try and guess and go the wrong way that takes some catching.

Throttle should stay the same throughout.

The hardest part for me was keeping the throttle steady! Correction was fine but on a couple of occasions I gave it too much on the loud pedal smile

Not so sure, it's best to wait a bit imo, if you have very fast reflexes when you drive on the plate it moves and you react and some time the wrong way, if you wait a few 10ths no need to second guess or react as fast. Once you realise it’s not about reflexes it’s very easy and gets dull once mastered.
