I've just had a phone call from Cardiff OPC confirming my build slot for a Feb delivery
Very excited and looking forward to heading down next Tuesday to finalise my spec.
Good news, well done.Very excited and looking forward to heading down next Tuesday to finalise my spec.
Might I ask if your car is one of the "existing" delayed 2017 builds or a "new" 2018 build ?

Thank you very much, I'm so excited as there has been a lot of wondering over the last year wether I'd get a car. This build is a new 2018 car one of the first of the 2nd allocation.Might I ask if your car is one of the "existing" delayed 2017 builds or a "new" 2018 build ?
Cheers
Dave

How many car have you bought from said OPC?
I know someone (with NO previous porsche buying history) who walked into a dealership and bought a 991 GT3 when nobody wanted one because of the engine fiasco. They then part exchanged that for the 991 RS even though people were fighting the dealer for them and now they are in a 991.2 GT3All from the same dealership.
Its for this reason I think all the 'you must buy 5 cayennes and 3 macans and a boxster' nonsense is just that, nonsense.
All about timing.....and walking in to an OPC when the engine fiasco was going on was probably just about perfect. And, of course, we don't know what trade in he got on the GT3.
One of my OPC's regular customers found an RS slot at another dealer by ringing every single UK dealer and lucked out when one had an unsold allocation. Quite a few allocations came through late. Sounds incredible to me but I am assured it happened.
I don't think you could walk into an OPC now and get anywhere near a GT car allocation without a buying history unless there's something like a very lucrative trade-in involved.

Funnily enough, I have a similar story.
In December 2013 I happened to be browsing PH and someone said their local dealer had a cancelled GT3 order that morning, a physical car. I looked at their profile, guessed the dealer, rang them, got a great salesman, and within 15 mins I had deposited on the new GT3 and in the following days collected the car. On collection I ordered an RS. The engine fiasco then followed with prices going sky high. The salesman then confirmed my RS allocation and took my GT3 as PX, at very healthy profit to me. I then, six months later collected my RS, which I still have...
That salesman has now gone and I have no contact with them now.
I hasten to add I have been a long term Porsche 911/Panamera/Boxster/Macan/GT3 owner for around 18 years with my local dealer....

Not sure what's the bigger farce. Someone with no Porsche whatsoever history outside of the hugely hyped .1gt3 gets a RS and a .2gt3 allocation compared to someone else who might have years of buying/onwership history or the requirement of buying a heap of SUVs..... Tbh at least the 'buy lots of SUVs' deal you know where you stand as compared to 'the dealer principal likes you for whatever reason' so it's fair enough the former gets a car compared to the latter imo.All from the same dealership.

Eight cars in Twenty years is not many to get a GT3, some buyers are buying a couple of cars a year.
ADM = Additional Dealer Markup, paying over the MSRP for the car.
Thanks for clarifying, no ADMADM = Additional Dealer Markup, paying over the MSRP for the car.
Just glad to get an allocation, I don't know how the dealers selection criteria works?
Seems it's not consistent across the country from no history to people jumping through hoops having to by other cars first. Wouldn't it be great if you could just go in and order one with out all this fiasco.

My 991 GT3.1 is my first Porsche. Just think luck and the engine fiasco played a good part for me..Love the car still after 3 yr's..
My 1st OPC bought car was also a 991.1 GT3 during the engine fiasco . Although I'd had privately purchased 996 and 997 GT3's previously . ( and I have bought 10+ since . No RS allocation's though )
