The only time the manual is quicker than the PDK is its 1mph higher top speed..Mr D is referring to the PDK makes less WHP than the manual due to supposedly higher Internal losses with the twin clutch gearbox..
However this is more than offset by the 5% lower gearing in the PDK due to its slightly lower final drive ratio..The gearing is even lower in gears 5 and 6 due to an extra gear..
Out of interest does anyone know what the PDK's parasitic losses are compared to the manual.?....
I think its probably incremental as the latest dual clutches are super efficient compared to the old Torque converter boxes..
yep it's all moot really, but like the GT3 RS thread more power = nicer esp free BHP :-) A 6.56 for the new engine RS so this extra BHP we all seem to have in the new 991.2 GT3 is helping every one inc the ring times. However this is more than offset by the 5% lower gearing in the PDK due to its slightly lower final drive ratio..The gearing is even lower in gears 5 and 6 due to an extra gear..

I only talk about it as I have been on track with a 458 S and still gob smaked the GT3 has the 458S pegged on the straights.
add to that a few over the pond have Dyno the new GT3now and they have more than 500BHP.

I thought Porsche GT cars have always exceeded factory claimed outputs. With the possible exception of the original 996GT3 that is. And on the other hand Ferrari have usually struggled to meet their claims. Hence no real surprise the new car will stay with a Speciale. If our cars are making 550bhp then that's certainly a lot better than the other way round!

..just to add (pedantic) clarity. From testing I have done, the 996.1GT3 would struggle to make factory output, the 996.2GT3 however makes the most power above book value of all the GT3s...most are around 400bhp or a tad more.If our cars are making 550bhp then that's certainly a lot better than the other way round!
