DAB Radio retrofit options
Discussion
Hello There
I own a 997.2 turbo S and whilst it is a top of the range 6 year old car .... it does not have DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast) radio.
With FM soon coming to an end, have any of you found a way of retrofitting DAB radio ?
Ideally, you would want a system that plugs into the existing infotainment system and is controlled via its menus.
I would not want to have something using AUX as it is already being used to provide bluetooth audio streaming (also a feature lacking on this car!)
I have done a search on "DAB audio" and found no pre-existing threads BTW.
Many Thanks
Ed

If you connect this to your Aux input you will be able to receive DAB radio and can stream bluetooth to it from your phone and it will pass it through the Aux input as well.

Hi
The Alpine solution does not completely fits the bill as you need to have an additional controller unit fixed somewhere and space in the cabin is rather limited.
I have come across Dension solutions such as :
http://www.dension.com/automotive/products/dab-rad...
as being the closest to an "integrated" solution.
Anybody out there installed these ? Anybody else with a view, an experience ?
Thanks

Hi
Well in Norway, FM radio was switched off at the start of this year so I do not see where your 5 year question leads to ?
I will probably not own that specific car by then but it is irrelevant to the point.
Also, as some have mentioned before, in some parts, whilst FM is still available, the reception is either poor or unreliable + DAB quality is much better anyway.
I am amazed that Porsche has not seen a juicy opportunity here to offer a dealer installed upgrade that seamlessly integrates into PCM with some software patch to 100'000s of 911/Boxster/Panamera/Cayenne clients ...

I guess there would be antenna implications, as well as adding hardware and firm/software implications for the PCM...James
