Calling all Carrera T drivers...
I have just posted this on a new thread... 'I've just driven around Thruxton in a manual cayman and now I want to sell my 997 GTS 4 pdk for a base 997.2 manual with sports chrono with a sports exhaust.
I'd appreciate any suggestions and advice. This car is just a weekend fun car driven on B roads and today confirmed that I would have more fun with a manual.
I love the Carrera T idea but I prefer the more compact size and N/A engines on the 997.'
Would a manual T be the solution??? Obviously it would mean a considerably wad of cash more that could be quite hard to justify.
Any help would be much appreciated.

If you can find one with a spec that suits you then I would say yes.
I prefer mine to the 997 GTS PDK I had before.
Thanks Rob.K - Interesting that you too had a PDK. I have found a manual which has a good spec although more than I would have chosen but my fault for being slow to act as I was offered a slot a while back. When you say you prefer it - can you elaborate? I'm quite a sound enthusiast so wondered if that was as good or better? Size - wise do you notice the difference on narrow lanes etc?I prefer mine to the 997 GTS PDK I had before.
The GTS does sound better - especially at the top of the Rev range. But the T is good fun and still sounds good. You can also choose pops and bangs from the exhaust if that is your thing.
I haven’t checked the measurements but the GTS was widebody and the T is not and it does feel very easy to place.
Where the T scores is low down torque; the mid range power is such that it feels very quick indeed - it is quick.
You then get the added comfort of a brand new car with all new parts so no creaks and rattles and a great ride quality.
Plus, nice manual gearbox with short throw, clutch is pleasant to use, all control weights are perfect - a great modern Porsche.

I'm a month into Carrera T ownership, and I love it. Mine's a basic spec manual with RWS. I prefer it to any 997 I've owned, including GTS. For me, it's also a better car than a GT4, and a 991.2 GTS too....close call on the 991.2 GTS though, but the Carrera T just betters it. We all like different things though, so do try and test drive them, although frustratingly, you may well struggle to find a Carrera T to test drive.....I have just posted this on a new thread... Did my swap yesterday.....traded in 991.2 GTS and collected my T (manual). Given only a heavy rain 50 mile trip home first impressions are what a great car. Love the manual gearbox, love the T interior.
Now its obviously down on power of my trade in GTS but at no point would you really tell. I am sure that a better driver than me could tell but for a weekend car never to be tracked then this is going to be fantastic.
Will post a couple of pics when home -
GT Silver
T interior (yellow bits)
Rear seats
PCM
And a few bits I have probably forgot.
Anyone gone from either an S or GTS "down" to a T, any thoughts?
Happy times ahead!!!!
Yes, I went from a GTS (sold Oct last year) to a Carrera T in March this year. You have more recent back to back experience, but I was also puzzled how an 80Bhp paper deficit between both cars isn't really that evident when you drive them. I was really expecting the T to feel a little lazy in comparison. The spec differences between my 991.2 GTS and the T are probably around 70Kg, but their relative speeds are closer than I imagined...Now its obviously down on power of my trade in GTS but at no point would you really tell. Very positive feedback. I'm totally sold on a yellow one as my first car was a yellow diesel golf back in the mid 80's - loved that car even if it spent more time on the back of an AA truck!
A very bold move above from the person who traded down from a 991.2 GTS to the T but I get it.

Doesn’t feel underpowered at all, perhaps more useable on day to day drives. Plus it has been many years since I have had a manual box, I am sure it’ll take some getting used to but I think I’m going to enjoy it.My dream car is GT3 touring manual which is what I am playing the dealership game towards, but who knows that the 992 GT3 will be like.....might want to keep the T instead?
Enjoy.

Had a good look at some T's today which i've an interest in buying..My dilemma is none are my ideal spec however i've developed a likening for one in particular..Its GR which i love in it,manual, glass roof/privacy glass( ambivalent towards) however no T pack or RWS..
The good news is it comes to only £91k but not my ideal spec..
I'm probably going for it but only to scratch a four month old itch..
I've also been given the all clear by my entire board of directors(family) which doesn't happen often..!

Might be worth calling round the OPC's to see what they have in stock or coming in?Its GR which i love in it,manual, glass roof/privacy glass( ambivalent towards) however no T pack or RWS..

I noticed last time I looked on approved used cars there were 6 Carrera T's now listed

I used to get pops and bangs in the blue turbo rob.......then I worked out it was either john or jamie.......I haven’t checked the measurements but the GTS was widebody and the T is not and it does feel very easy to place.

Interesting comments. I love my 997 GTS and got quite close to buying my OPC's manual 991.2 GTS demo but couldn't persuade myself it was worth the circa £50k cheque I would have had to write (very high spec 991.2) to do the trade. I struggle with the idea of the T being a significantly better car than the 997 GTS because whilst I think the chassis is no doubt better than the 997's the 997 has hydraulic steering, 40 bhp more from an N/A engine and I reckon the 6 speed box will be nicer too.
But the T's getting a lot of love so maybe it's just one of those cars that they've nailed.
All fair points - I never said the T was better than the 997GTS, just that I prefer it personally. You would have to drive one and see what you think, the driving experiences are quite different.
The low down torque makes the T feel quicker more of the time, the steering is great and so is the gearchange. The 997 GTS is a fabulous car though, only you will know if the price to change is worth it to you.
The spec on my T came to £90k despite having a few goodies that I wanted and the price to change from my 7 year old GTS was remarkably painless.
Zeb - good to see you lurking on here, you need to get one too now
