Glad you’re still enjoying the Spyder
I sure am and prefer it to my dearly departed GT4...Since my GT3 is PDK can you give an honest unbiased opinion on your GT3's gearbox versus the Spyder's.. Re the gearbox - I don’t really know what to say - they are both brilliant.
I think the throw and accuracy of the gear lever is very similar. The clutch on the GT3 feels assisted and as such, isn’t as heavy as the Spyder (my only gripe with it - it’s fine as a weekend toy but can be a bit wearing as a DD on a traffic filled slog to work)
The chassis and engine obviously sets the GT3 apart as it should - you can buy 2 Spyders for a GT3 (assumes you can buy what you like at list - Ha !!!)
Brilliant little car - everyone should experience them - what I think will be really interesting is how it compares to a manual T - can anyone comment ?
Enjoy

Oh thanks for that - absolutely not - I have said I’ll wait until next year if at all.
Apologies, I was only joshing!Edited by RSVP911 on Friday 25th May 21:52
Obviously, as the owner of a T, I believe them to be rarer than hen’s teeth and more collectible than diamonds.
It’s a funny old world, when I bought my Boxster Spyder in May 2010, I received a generous “additional allowance” as it had been sitting unloved in the showroom for a couple of months.
Enjoy the GTS, they are lovely.

I'm still hoping for a testdrive in one next week, as long its in my preferred spec ie sans PDK,glassroof, privacy etc..A couple of weeks ago i bought a Carrera white 981 Spyder, and i'll be flabbergasted if the 7 speeder is even in the same ballmark as the Spyder's 6 speed..
I might end up eating my own words, however i suspect not..!
Taffy, trust me, you’ll love the T. Don’t get hung up about its extra ratio...if you like, I’ll fit a 6 speed gear knob, and weld up the gate into 7th, so it’ll be a 6 speeder...!I might end up eating my own words, however i suspect not..!

Truth is I’d have preferred a T manual to the GTS but this was really for my wife and she hates manuals and loves PDK and I personally can’t really see the point of a PDK T - hence the GTS.
I really tried to get her to think a Yellow Manual T was a very subtle and easy DD , but she disagreed - guess I’ll have to get my manual kicks from the GT3 - yay !

Best gearbox and clutch is the GT4s....nicely weighted precise gearbox throw and clutch reasonably heavy good feel only drawback are the poor ratios.
Same comments re the Spyder which has a slightly lighter clutch than the GT4. Mine has a slight clutch judder only in sport and sport plus occured from new.
The gen 2 GT3 and Carrera T transmission probably on balance on a par. Whilst the 6 speed GT3 box is better than the 7 speed of the T (mainly due to the slight vagueness in the upper gearchanges of the T), the clutch on the T is bizarrely slightly heavier and better weighted than the GT3 which I find too light for a GT Porsche.

I was at Silverstone in my 997.2 cup car on Wednesday with a good friend who brought his T along and made most GT3 owners question why they had spent double the money on a GT3! In the right hands they are very capable.
I’ve said similar on these pages with my friends and their supercars.......There’s a lot of comment over the last couple of days but in my mind there will be lots of T’s for a while at OPC’s.... They are a 100k car....but I do think once they have gone ..... and it may take a while..... like the 987 Spyder...... owners will hold onto them and their values will stay strong....
In my opinion ..relatively low numbers, the rising value of all 911’s, inflation and the cost of 992’s which I think will be nearer to 100k base will keep prices strong.....
I personally can see the 991.2 GTS’s taking a stronger percentage hit but always being worth more than the T.... The 991.1 GTS will remain the best of the last Carrera NA and I think the T will sit somewhere around that...
No science in this... purely my opinion and what I told the wife..!

I’ve found a spec I like at my local OPC, but like you I’ve been looking at them for last 6-8 weeks and not a lot has moved. The Tewkesbury car at £89k concerns me that its a very low price, reasonable spec and still hasn’t sold.
Once all the desirable unregistered cars dry up then I'm sure the Tewkesbury car will sell but it doesn't have the T interior and DAB radio which might put people off. Thanks to Captain James T posting here the yellow one at Tonbridge I was able to get a new one. Totally ironic that Porsche has gone turbo for EU emissions and only ended up making a car that's so addictive to drive. One poster said that these cars will have higher mileage on them than the previous generation and I have to say I agree.

Forgot you have both a manual 991.2 GT3 and a Manual T - please can you let me know how they compare in the round as spirited road cars.
Cheers
Seem to recollect you had a 997 GTS Richard. The T is very similar to this (my GTS is PDK though) but with more of an old time 'retro' lightweight 997.1 Carrera S feel in that the T makes the GTS feel lardy to a degree.Cheers
Performance wise the cars are very similar despite the 375T v 408GTS difference. Slight turbo lag on the T but fairly linear power delivery and don't forget this is sweeter than the C2S engine.
GT3 is on another level of course.
T a fairly rapid involving but comfortable road car. Think comfortable but focused walking shoes.
GT3 an extremely rapid very involving hardcore road and track weapon. Think fairly tight racing ski boots.
Hope this helps!

I just think they look great - I’d fancy one in Yellow , GTSm , white . Oh and Miami - oh or Guards - actually looks good in all of them

What is the best time to get there?
Tends to be quite busy first thing, eases off by mid morning. Cars seem to start disappearing just after lunch but it was a good turnout last year and there is plenty to do with the museum, house and grounds to see. Watch your speed around the Forest...lots of little foals at this time of year and a speed camera van might well be in the vicinity. Hope you enjoy it.Frrair said:
Hi Bob
I remember you trying to find somewhere to place an order for your Carrera when I was going through the buying process, did you manage to order a brand new one?
Would love to see a few pictures of your C2 if you could.
Cheers

You have a good memory. Eight months wait but I’m chuffed to bits. I remember you trying to find somewhere to place an order for your Carrera when I was going through the buying process, did you manage to order a brand new one?

Thought I would drop it here as it's the T dedicated forum.. I ordered one for a friend this year.. car got delivered approximately a month or so ago..
Friend picks it up.. nice and shiny parks it overnight and then following day whilst on the motorway.. hears a light clicking noise, he slows down, gets ready to stop on the hard shoulder, clicking noise becomes harder, all warning lights come alight with all the error messages you can imagine.. car stops completely thankfully on the hard shoulder.. this all happens in a matter of seconds.
Long story short. Oil pump failure which led to catastrophic failure of one bank of cylinders. Car had 50 miles. five-zero miles. Happened on motorway at subdued speeds..
Car recovered to nearby OPC who then transport it to supplier OPC who checks with Porsche AG and then decide for a completely new engine (GT3 style) as these are largerly plug&play.
I had never EVER heard of anything remotely similar on a modern car let alone Porsche.. if we leave aside the GT3 fiasco..
I think all is nice and well. The OPC dealt with it brilliantly and were very courteous as you can imagine, but it did result in a brand new car with a second engine within 1 week of existence..
Any of you heard of anything even remotely similar ?
