Thought I would drop it here as it's the T dedicated forum.. I ordered one for a friend this year.. car got delivered approximately a month or so ago..

Friend picks it up.. nice and shiny parks it overnight and then following day whilst on the motorway.. hears a light clicking noise, he slows down, gets ready to stop on the hard shoulder, clicking noise becomes harder, all warning lights come alight with all the error messages you can imagine.. car stops completely thankfully on the hard shoulder.. this all happens in a matter of seconds.

Long story short. Oil pump failure which led to catastrophic failure of one bank of cylinders. Car had 50 miles. five-zero miles. Happened on motorway at subdued speeds..

Car recovered to nearby OPC who then transport it to supplier OPC who checks with Porsche AG and then decide for a completely new engine (GT3 style) as these are largerly plug&play.

I had never EVER heard of anything remotely similar on a modern car let alone Porsche.. if we leave aside the GT3 fiasco..

I think all is nice and well. The OPC dealt with it brilliantly and were very courteous as you can imagine, but it did result in a brand new car with a second engine within 1 week of existence..

Any of you heard of anything even remotely similar ?
Not with a Porsche, but I had a similar situation with an R8 RWS earlier in the year - lasted 8 days then took three months for Audi to work out what was wrong! My T is well past this mileage/age now (fingers crossed).

That’s a real shame but I bet he’s being looked after by Porsche... I suppose these things happen.. new parts fail but it must have been starved of oil for some time ..my concern would be that the system didn’t pick up the issue early enough before destruction.....you can hear most things going on with the lack of sound deadening I’d like to think I’d spot any new noise pdq...

That’s why I always buy new or have a bullet proof warranty.... Can you imagine this going pop on a car without ..... be a nightmare...

Very happy thanks CJT. It'll be at Porsche Beaulieu next Sunday. Anymore T's going?
We’re planning to go; 4 up in our yellow T biggrin
Spotted 2 yellow T's (apart from mine which was right at the back of the car park) and a white one. It's on days like this when you realise that the bright colours really stand out amongst a sea of silver and black. A Viper green turbo S and a vintage gulf blue 911 come to mind.

Anyway, my T was getting a lot of love and attention. Great event and will definitely be returning.

The white T was owned by a sales director of OPC Portsmouth and regarding numbers they had a 5 car allocation x 40 dealers = approx 200 T's.

I think I chatted to you...yellow T with the yellow stitching, parked near a black T. Glad you enjoyed the event...I left my Sapphire blue 911 in the staff car park and watched everybody come in.

Not sure if that was me. Mine was at the back of the car park next to a black Turbo and a red Carrera. Photo of it on the Simply Porsche thread posted by someone. It has black satin wheels. Great to see the T's out and about.

I reckon there are more than that across the country....most OPC’s seems to have had at least two stock/unsold cars and IIRC people were saying their OPC’s had more than three customer orders.

Yep, wrong yellow T...thats the trouble with having a car that is so popular. So five T's in total I think, 3 Yellow, 1 Black & 1 white. The white one might well have been my cancelled order

Wilmslow had 4 in total, so they told me. The first was theirs, the second mine and there were 2 other customer orders

Hi all,

I’m sure this has come up before but has anyone had some proper time behind the wheel of both a GTS and a T? On the hunt for a new daily, the cars I’m looking at are both at a similar price point so that isn’t an issue.. it’s really down to which would make the most sense, will be used in London daily and weekend long trips out of town.. think I could cope with a manual on a daily basis - pretty sure I’d only want a T in manual and a GTS in PDK. Residuals are important too, GTS is well proven here. Also coming from an RS6 so used to quite a lot of poke on demand. Would be most interested to hear your thoughts! Thanks

Yes, so it would be a 2017 GTS or 2018 T.. the other question is noise, is a GTS louder?

Was idly thinking about GTSs today whilst pootling up the M40 in my T, mainly thinking about the extra power. Once on some decent B roads I found myself thinking that the extra power is just not necessary, unless you want more in a straight line. The T just flows on a decent road, I wound the the windows down (well, pushed the down buttons) and drove with the sounds of the engine and turbo whistling, carving through corners, braking late and hard on the ceramics, and generally being in a very happy place. 7th gear on the M40 back home, joining traffic as I approached London and generally marvelling at the overall package. I’d like to think I’ve owned some great cars, and that it takes a lot to impress me, but can honestly say the T is very good. It even smells good.

Given your use and what you’ve been driving a .2 GTS. Residuals very hard to predict....depends if they make a T again.

I doubt we will see a T again for the next generation. It's a 50th anniversary car which they celebrated with lightweight glass and the 918 seats which cannot be spec'd on a GTS.

Sorry, but I very much doubt this - as it sold well it will become a staple part of each generation. I know I’m in the wrong echo chamber for this, but I also think there is lots they can do to improve the T in the next generation - starting with the gearbox which is IMHO, nowhere near as good as it could or should be - compare it to a GT4/Spyder - they are much better I’m afraid.
I think the T is a nice package, it’s a pretty car and I quite liked the ones I tested (PDK & Manual) - Yep I thought it was nice, but it didn’t stir my souls like a 981 Spyder or even a GT4 - I honestly think it’s nowhere near as good as those cars - really sorry.

I can see why people like them & I wish all the owners on here many happy miles , but me and the T ain’t going to be frown

Very hard to compare a manual T to a PDK GTS - two completely different cars, sorry.

Also think your view on numbers is optimistic as others have said it’s too low. When I was looking I called most dealers and virtually everyone I spoke to had at least a couple of unadvertised unregistered cars over and above customer allocations; I don’t know the overall number but I’d guess it will be much nearer to 300 than 200. Not that this matters.

Enjoy smile
