I prefer the T to drive than my previous 981 Spyder, probably the gearing I think.

(Leaving aside the open roof motoring).

Don’t find the gearbox an issue at all.

On the numbers game - I guess we’ll know soon enough - but have posted here before that my OPC said 36 dealers had received 5 cars each. There may have then been some additional orders. I think we’re looking at around 200 cars with OPCs holding some through the production shut-down. Pdk’s will price to a base 911; manuals will be sought after (especially if not over-loaded).

Gearbox - a superb touring gearbox for the road: it is not a racing ‘box. So it depends what you’re expecting.

For me I feel completely alive in this car. It also draws the best and worst out of humanity - random spontaneous compliments from dad and kid at petrol station and even a cyclist to being cut up by an impatient focus driver just pumped with aggression, to then being let out of side roads by a bus driver and a cab!! I can see life is not going to be quiet in my GT silver T pack manual (Bose, Pdsl, tinted rear lens, cruise and speed warning!). Have fun - sorry I couldn’t make Beaulieu.

I thought the clutch weight was easier than the 981 Spyder which is good if using as a DD - I think I preferred the 6 gears in the Spyder and the throw is lovely ; mechanical , a little notchy but really precise - you’re right it has more of a “race” feel which I really like. I also found the 7th gear confusing - had to be in 6th to get into 7th - I kept wanting to go from 5th to 7th and couldn’t (I would have been fine in time - just frustrating on a 1st drive) I also found on change down, the tight gate meant that I sometimes ended up in too low a gear when pressing on ; but again, I assume this would go with time.

I completely understand the appeal of the T and didn’t mean to offend anyone - I just think there will be a gen 2 and I think it will be interesting to see how it evolves & I’m guessing it will be a big step forward in a few areas ; nice start though, enjoy yourcars smile

I was referring to the 50th anniversary of the first T. I'm 50 so the car appeals to me on that level too!

Hi all,

I’m sure this has come up before but has anyone had some proper time behind the wheel of both a GTS and a T? On the hunt for a new daily, the cars I’m looking at are both at a similar price point so that isn’t an issue.. it’s really down to which would make the most sense, will be used in London daily and weekend long trips out of town.. think I could cope with a manual on a daily basis - pretty sure I’d only want a T in manual and a GTS in PDK. Residuals are important too, GTS is well proven here. Also coming from an RS6 so used to quite a lot of poke on demand. Would be most interested to hear your thoughts! Thanks
I traded my Turbo S .2 for my T, in reality on a long twisty A to B road the T wouldn't see which way the Turbo went.... The T is not about power or outright performance, what it does provide is an engaging drive that does not leave you feeling the car lacks power. As a weekend drive the Turbo S for me was unengaging, sure it was extremely quick, but ultimately it was point and go. I have taken the T on some of my favourite local country roads and its so much more fun and engaging being manual, having said that if it was my daily drive sitting in traffic I may have a different view......

Daily turbo s , T or GTS are dimilar viability imo.

GTS is perhaps better with PDK but id say if getting pdk GTS is the clearer choice.

If getting manual id test both as a well setup manual GTS is fun.

I would not worry about poke coming from an RS6 the GTS is quicker and far more dynamic

I've had a .2 GTS and currently have a T. Both have really surprised me as to how good they were and highlights how the .2 has developed since the first ones I drove ( I have a .2 GT3 too which you expect to be brilliant)

If I was driving as a daily it would be the GTS with pdk

The T, though slower, has a more revable engine. You need to work it harder. I personally like the gearbox - far better ratios than the GT4, though this has probably got more to due with the additional torque. Its also the better balanced car - which I put this down to the lighter body and manual box

Yep in fact any 911 is far more involving from a driving perspective than any model of RS Audi.

I think I chatted to you...yellow T with the yellow stitching, parked near a black T. Glad you enjoyed the event...I left my Sapphire blue 911 in the staff car park and watched everybody come in.
Hi Bob, I think that was me, yellow T near the back (as the ‘kids’ weren’t up too early but did well to squeeze in!). I think we saw your car on the way in, sapphire blue on 19s looked great too.

Simply Porsche was a fantastic event too and great to see lots of other Ts there!

Thanks all, most helpful.. I too have a manual .2 GT3, so perhaps a GTS with PDK is the way forward.. for me the rear wheel steer is brilliant and so this would be a must on a GTS too. Perhaps PDCC too given the quality of roads now in the UK, seem to be worse than ever! From what I read the cars with PDCC are noticeably more comfortable if a little sterile at higher speeds?! I must add the RS6 is an astounding vehicle for something of such size and mass, really does handle well for a big old brute..

IMHO if you already have a GT3 manual, I would go for a PDK GTS certainly more suited to sitting in traffic.....

Certainly a GTS pdk would compliment the GT3 manual unless you preferred the slimmer bodied T for driving and parking around town. The white pdk one at Beaulieu looked fantastic with red T stripes inside so worth checking out the interiors. His reasoning on buying a T over the GTS was the extra 20K. Tonbridge have 3 black pdk T’s.

...from 981 Cayman GTS to https://www.porsche.com/microsite/porsche-code/def...

In stock at local OPC, looks very nice but there are two options I probably wouldn't choose.

Maybe? Please discuss smile

At £45k (?) to change, and more risk of a larger amount of depreciation, I'd be sticking with the CGTS...

My thoughts....

Tough one, seems like a lot of money to change from such a great car but I can see the appeal
I wasn't a huge fan of the seats with the silver stitching, feel very ordinary without some colour.
I didn't see heated seats on the spec list but not the end of the world if they aren't standard
T with PDK and sunroof nice to have but seems a bit wrong to me
I think they look better with the lip unpainted but that's personal and easy to change.
Quite like the silver exterior but guards would be my choice.

Heated seats standard with the folding buckets too.

Which was a nice surprise.

@Twinfan - actually close to £50K as a cost to change with first year tax on top of the T price (we haven't started negotiating yet though laugh), plus the new-car-off-the-forecourt depreciation (£0 in man-maths, but not in wife-maths!)

@testdrive_tv - yes, PDK and the sunroof are the two that I probably wouldn't choose if I was configuring a new car as they don't quite sit with my view of a T...and they add around £4k to the price

Any more for any more? (FYI, 65 plate 981 CGTS, 17500 immaculate miles, PDK + lots more)
