My take on it summarised;

Not going to be many of them, between 6 & 10 at the OPC I have dealt with, so yes not too common.
Has the right bits and ethos, so if you trust Porsche to not cock it up, should be a very engaging road car.
Option it lightly in line with the advertised ethos it should be a good un.

It isn’t and doesn’t profess to be a track car like a GT4 or GT3, but it should it be a great driving road car, perhaps the most fun one at sensible speeds with an emphasis on how it drives not how fast you can go.

Is the above 100% true and can be trusted, probably not but I hope it’s true, mine is a likely delivery in April and I am really quite excited about it.

Acid test, would I swap it for a GT3 Touring, well ok got me there I would, but I am not on Porsche’s special person list to get one of those.... and besides which I would need to sell my Boxster Spyder to afford it and I am keeping that as it’s a special little car to me.

There you go 25 pages, done.

Thanks for that; very clear - Which Spyder do you have ? I have a 981 and love it. I've not driven the iteration before that but I hear they are great too.

Hi RSVP

With a name like that I couldn’t not reply.

I have a 2010 Boxster Spyder (987.2) as attached and it’s great, just a little bundle of fizzing fun and it’s staying in my garage for dry and sunny days when I only have one or less passengers.

I have a friend with a 981 Cayman S and that is a great car too, I can only imagine what a GT4 / Spyder is like.

I hope the T will be used more, well on dry days at least, ferrying kids to and from events which seems to be most of my weekend driving.

Next summer we are going to Switzerland (me, wife and two teenagers), I am trying to persuade my wife to drive the Spyder down and I can take the 911 Carrera T but she isn’t having it 😒.

Martin I am pleased you’ve got a GT3 Touring coming, I love the look without wings and I bet that engine in that package will be fab.

Cheers

Ed

Just in time for the better weather, sounds great. I am sure it will be epic.

Nice job Stefan

I placed my deposit end of October, I am keeping it very simple.

GT Silver (although I am torn with the yellow) RAS, manual, rear parking sensors (incl PCM), rear seats and umming over needing front axle lift.

Does anyone know if a -20mm drop that comes with this is lower than a 2010 Boxster Spyder?

I don’t do track days so I hope it will be really sweet for road driving and used more than the B Spyder as I can squeeze a small teenager in the back.

Its not confirmed but it sounds like a March build and April delivery for me, I would love to pick it up but don’t know if that’s possible, I will ask when final spec is needed.

Cheers
Ed

Hi BmDub

Yes I was thinking of a collection from Germany but seeing that has put me off.

I like your spec, just been playing on the configurator and reckon a CWhite with red T interior, rear park sensors (PCM), RAS and rear seats could be my ideal, it would match my Spyder nicely as well 👍.

If I don’t need front axle lift this fits my budget spot on as well.

I will probably change my mind a few times before I have to lock down the spec.. but that is my current fave.

Cheers

Sounds fun, I will enquire.

If it falls in line with one kid’s ski trip and the other’s DofE expedition it might work.

Hi Bob

I was thinking about you saying you couldn’t get a base Carrera so when I was talking with the chap I have been dealing with at the OPC last week I asked if he could get one mid next year. He said he probably couldn’t but he could get a T at the moment.

He said he expected when road test reports come out the few remaining slots he had would sell quickly.

If you want one feel free to PM me and I will pass on the contact details.

Cheers
Ed

Ref colour I keep swapping between Carrera White with red T interior, GT Silver with standard black but grey seat belts or Yellow with yellow T interior. I think the Carrera White with the red T interior will win through I would like to choose the Porsche script along the cill line so might have it without the normal sticker and get one fitted to match my Spyder.

Specs pretty sorted I just need to decide if I need front axle lift, would love to know the length of overhang from centre line of front wheel and height of the underside of bumper I can then compare to Spyder as I know where that bottoms out.

Thanks for the response AV. that is a mighty fine garage and car history you have there, top job.

I am really pleased front axle lift isn’t needed for the reasons you highlight.

Cheers

Or in my case, man drives to local Tesco's, in a sedate fashion, exits car with difficulty looking like a tired old wreck, glances back at his Porsche....one he's worked bloody hard to afford and wants to spec for himself, not resale

Hello 👋. OP here.

I have a T on order and after reading this and the first road reports have been wavering over changing to a GTS, so today I have been to Silverstone to drive three cars, a base Carrera with a manual gbox, a C2S with RWS which was a PDK and fully loaded (including carbon fibre floor matts at £586 albeit this wasnt too expensive as it was for a pair) & a PDK 2wd GTS.

I loved the base engine with a manual box, plenty of go that you felt you could stretch and the handling was mighty.

I have concluded I have no desire or need for RWS.

I also thought the GTS was noticeably faster but that might just make the feeling of getting the best from it less obtainable on the road so ultimately more frustrating to drive.

So I am happy I have been and had a go in a few and the process has put my mind to rest that a lightly spec’ed T is right for what I want, occasionally weekend toy.

As someone before said we don’t need anything more than a regular £20k car, so maybe a Golf, so what we want is down to personal choice so each to his own and I am now happy to spec mine simply with GT Silver, Standard interior, Silver seat belts, rear parking sensors and PCM & back seats so I can use it more.

Roll on end of March / start of April.

I had a great time at Silverstone and I am really quite excited now.

I am also keeping my Boxster Spyder.....

Peace and goodwill to all.
Ed

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of people’s cars as they arrive.

I am not a serial car buyer in fact apart from company cars I have never spec’ed a brand new one for myself before but after much consideration I have bottled it.

Why I hear you say, well it sort of seemed wrong of me to spec back all things they took out like PCM, rear seats etc that made it special so after boring my wife about it for days I have jumped ship to a GTS.

I hope I am still welcome round here ?

It’s great everyone who ‘got the T’ and followed through with the order is loving theirs - well done one and all.

Nice one at OPC Wolverhampton yesterday GTSilver with Yellow T interior, rear seats and PCM if anyone is after one.

I was there picked up my Carmine GTS and I am loving that too, running in restrictions adhered to of course.

Congrats one and all I hope we all have many happy miles in them.

Cheers

Bit further for me but would be nice to share some time with fellow enthusiasts with a similar story - ordered a T (was the original poster on this thread) but changed to GTS mine is a 2WD manual coupe.

If you don’t mind of course.

Bloooming heck the GT Silver one looks nice 👍

Near identical to my spec T although I bottled it after the first reviews (on winter tyres) and changed to a GTS.

It’s fabulous the new T owners are enjoying them so much.
