Anyone for ‘T’
Discussion
Hi Yellow T
As this is to complement rather than replace the T which I guess is your everyday car why not look a bit further back in the Porsche catalogue?
I have had a 987.2 Spyder for several years and it is a great weekend toy, some might say better than a 981?
You sound a sensible chap so it’s worth considering other options so you are happy with your decision.
Cheers
Ed

Great feedback. I think if I didn't like auto blip quite so much and the sound of the 911 engine roaring in the 981 the 987.2 would be the sensible buy despite the fiddly roof. You've clearly got a gem of a car.As this is to complement rather than replace the T which I guess is your everyday car why not look a bit further back in the Porsche catalogue?

Admittedly at the beginning it took a little bit of getting used to. After driving it a bit more, it never bothers me now.
It's by no means a bad box now, the shorter stick in the T helps too.
Agreed. Moving from 6th to 5th and you sometimes hit 3rd and it’s down to the spring loading of the gear change, but now got used to it and no problems. Overall, it’s an excellent road going 911 and just begs you to drive it more and more. It's by no means a bad box now, the shorter stick in the T helps too.
I find my T's manual box one of its best features. The short shift is lovely and its piss easy to find the gears versus the AM dog leg 7speed in my V12VS.
7th is long but delivers great mpg, I can get 36+ on a decent motorway run despite the car running a 625-650PS setup from 9e. It's the right choice for a fun daily versus the 6speed for low miles weekend use.

GT3ZZZ,
Thank for your view on the " T."
How do you like your Aston ?
It's a really lovely car, quirky and special with its dog leg. And sounds like nothing else on sale any more. I'm fortunate thats its one of a few in my garage so its not required to do traffic or anything to spoil the experience Thank for your view on the " T."

Thanks for your response Sir ( GT3ZZZ )
I have been eyeing a Carerra T to put alongside my Dogleg too.
Sounds like a very usable torquey motor in the T. Pretty good ground clearance and suspension make it a practical car to use too.
I find that with the Gt cars, I have to have a plan of where I need and want to go as often I just don't go into or to certain places due to the drive entrance being to steep, or road is just not good ! I am hyper about looking after my stuff
The t just seems so much more practical to me.
I have a gt4 and a 981 gts, and often just grab the keys to the gts as I know I will not have any scraping issues or pebbles being flung around from the Cup 2's if I encounter any road works !
Enjoy your beautiful cars Sir !

I have recently decided to keep my T having concluded that in manual form it works perfectly as a road car. This despite a planned move to 991.2 GT3 now the pricing has reached more rational levels. Why? Well there’s sufficient power for road use, various interesting noises courtesy of less sound insulation and
handling with rear wheel steer that is good enough.
I had an amusing few laps in a T at Silverstone PEC
twisty circuit behind a GT3 which really could not pull
any distance between us at the relatively modest speeds attainable there. Obviously across the road on the GP circuit the T would be left for dead. A few track day’s a year is all I’ll probably manage and for the rest of my driving year the T is definitely a “keeper “

T is a very nice package - not sure you can base too much on keeping up with a GT3 at the PEC - quality of driving there is very hit and miss and sometimes people could keep up with a GT3 on a push bike handling with rear wheel steer that is good enough.

Its perfect for test driving Porsches though as you very rarely get out of second gear foresterlad said:

Said it before but the T is very remiscent of the 997.1 Carrera S not just in sound but many other characteristics.Incidentally the lightweight glass ( perspex) is worth having not just for the slight weight advantage but for the better soundtrack.
Don't consider rws to be worth speccing on the T as it is a bare bones car essentially but some do undoubtedly prefer it.
