I would have thought the whole purpose of the T would be to minimise superfluous weight to optimise the lightweight driving experience.
So, there shouldn’t be a ‘poverty spec’ penalty. On the contrary, the ‘fat cat’ spec might be the one that suffers.

Funny you should say that on stripper spec as I cant make my mind up on a 992 T.

I have a potential slot as an alternate to the C2 that I’ve been waiting forever and a day for. Ideally I wanted to go with the heritage interior pack on that or a PTS colour with sportex and be c£100k.

With the T, I’ve played around on the configurator from 110k plus spec but think this works: http://www.porsche-code.com/PP554AP7

I know no T interior but from what I can see the sportex still has extended leather just no deviated stitching or pinstripe insert.

If I commit to one of these with a ‘poverty’ spec like this is there a risk of taking a bath if I want to get out of it quickly now it appears there are plenty of allocations about? May look at keeping my 991.2T with the 992 on pcp for a month or two while I decide.
Probably depends if an early car. If yes you should be fine

After many years of dreaming I finally put down a deposit for a base Carrera, when new ‘T’ was launched, I also showed a keen interest in that (ie another deposit!). Last week I received a call from our local dealer that I had an allocation for a ‘T’ due for delivery late April 😊.

So, after years of ‘fantasy builds’ on the Porsche configurator it’s crunch time as this is the config. that counts! I know it easy to get carried away ticking all the option boxes, so here I need a little advice/input. I’m looking to specify a very capable fast Grand Tourer, it’s likely my car will spend most of its time eating up A & B roads as we tour Europe. I also plan that it will be a keeper so am less interested in the impact on resell value of an option but more about what they add to the stock ‘T’. I also don’t have bottomless pockets so of the 6 big ticket items below which 2 or 3 would you go for?

1. 18 way Sports plus Seats over the std 4 way (£1866)
2. LED Matrix PDLS+ headlights over the LED PDLS+ option (an additional £1355)
3. Rear Axle Steering £1592
4. Park Assists wt Surround View over the Park Assist (front & rear) with reversing camera (an additional £732)
5. Burmester over the Base sound system (the Bose is not an option on the ‘T’ . £3258).
6. Porsche InnoDrive over Adaptive cruise (an additional £615)

Anything else you think is a must have?
The other option is hold out for a 992.2 base Carrera?

Your input is much appreciated.

If you can’t have all 6 I’d drop bermiester, as it doesn’t change the way the car drives, also I’d probably drop innodrive. I’d also add leather dash if it doesn’t come as standard. And auto dimming mirrors if that’s not standard.

Only the RWS would offer any dynamic improvements, everything else is convenience.

With a car like the T, its USP is, supposedly, its lightweight spec, so worth considering the weight penalty for each option.

Shame the buckets aren’t available. Is it know when / if they’ll make a reappearance.

If not is it worth taking the rear seats anyway?

1. You will spend all your time sat in the seats so try them out at your dealer. If the 2 of you are different size/shape then the memory function with the 14/18 way seats can help. The 14/18 way are allegedly lower too. I have the 14 ways.
2. PDLS+ gives you swivelling headlight beam and main beam automation. Difficult one this - didn’t go for Matrix due to the extra cost.
3. Rear axle steering is the only driving dynamic option here. It also brings the lithium battery rather than the normal type which has caused issues - see the forums.
4. Surround view allows better parking in tight spaces including the kerbs etc. it adds a side view as well as the overhead view. The extra cameras are in the door mirror bottoms.
5. Don’t think Burmester is worth it at all. I have Bose on my C4S.
6. I had the innodrive vs Adaptive cruise choice dilemma on my car. I don’t particularly like lane keep assist which is part of the package but what innodrive gives you as part of the package is a constant display of what the speed limit is in the main dash if you want it! It seems to work well too.

Just my thoughts of course - I am sure many will disagree! Enjoy the fun of the spec phase and then the wait!

I have bermister in my 991.2 t and my new 718 gts boxster. So I’d have it but not at the expense of other things

I’ve had 992’s with and without RWS and I’d say RWS well worth the money.

Thanks. I guess in my case I'm partly taking the T as I just can't get a base Carrera. I think I'm going to have to find a RWS car to try.

Thanks
1. yes we're both very different heights so I think the 18 way with memory wins - it's a shames they've dropped to elec steering column so it looks like that adjustment will be manual anyway.
3. Thanks I'll look up the Lithium battery
5. Unfortunately the Bose isn't currently an option with the T - they have just added it back to the base Carrera options so I might be lucky.
6. Yes it's the speed limit bit I like - I have that on my current car and find it a god send - as speed limit option plus active cruse is more than Innodrive I think I'll go for the latter.

I would only spec rear wheel steer out of that list, the rear detracts what a T is all about.

Of the 6 options you’ve listed, the 2 I’d go with are the rear axle steering, and the LED lights. I’d also choose the T interior as it’s nice, and exclusive to the Carrera T. I’ve had a Macan T with that same interior, and I really liked it.

I’m rarely a fan of surround view cameras, as the lenses always seem to get dirty and give you hardly any visibility..!

Try and go and sit in a showroom 992 with both different seat options to compare, but I had 18 way seats on a 992 GTS, and frankly the 4 way seats would have been more than adequate…

Personally I would avoid speccing a T above the cost of an S. The only cost options I would really want are electric folding mirrors, PDLS plus (could skip this one), reversing camera, heated multifunction GT sports steering wheel (either leather or race-tex depending on preference), and ideally Bose except it's not available at the moment.

Your spec is obviously your choice, but a couple of observations.

What is the view on Power Steering Plus?
I’ve read quite a few of negative comments. Some people prefer the weightier steering at lower speeds without the transition sensation as speed builds up

And ‘Privacy Glass’ ?
It divides opinion, as well as dividing the side profile of the car. With GT Silver it will stand out. Not normally a popular choice on 911s.
