Porsche have reduced the insulation on the gen 2 GT3 but this can still be used as a daily.
Not sure I'd like to use mine as a daily, to much cabin noise and rattles from the engine driving it around town.

It sure is an 'event' though when I do use it
Interesting .....I understood the gen 2 sounded a lot quieter transmission wise than the gen 1 due to the dual mass flywheel?

Hate the bag of nails clatter of the gen 1..is yours PDK? Just had my gen 2 allocation confirmed prob going manual but PDK poss quieter?
I've had a ride in a Gen 1 and yes the single mass flywheel noise has gone but the "bag of nails" clatter is still VERY much there, mine is PDK with no creep which I'm not a fan of!!!!!

Standard brakes vs. PCCB. Given that that the standard brakes aren't the 'big' ones, what do we think the actual weight saving would be on the T and would it be possible to tell the difference?

The weight saving is going to be minimal, if any. It doesn't need PCCBs for driving i guarantee 99% of people driving this car won't be able to cook the standard brakes on it. If I was in the market for the car, i'd tempted but only due to lack of brake dust, and as a colour coordinating thing with a yellow car - luckily since the standard brakes are black and not the S model red ones, black actually works fine with all the colours anyway. And as for brake dust, I prefer the satin black wheels so the dust is rendered invisible anyway on those.

Keep it reasonably cheap, 6k on PCCBs for what is essentially a base model car is a bit mental IMO and you'll never see that money back on resale - best case ypu might if you keep it for 100k miles.

In summary, great car, but don't go overboard!

Was my thinking too. But I do like the lack of brake dust...

Agree entirely with this. Mines having standard steels as ceramic cost £6k is ott relative to car cost and this ain't a GT car!

Many also reckon the smaller steel Rotas create more downforce on turn in.....so negates the requirement to spec rws too!

Win win.

Basic is best.

Ordered!

March/April build slot - can't wait driving

This is what I've gone for at the moment. I doubt it will change much a lot depends on how I get on with the different seat options at the PEC day

Interesting cheers Tony.

Prob going 'manuel' to replace the GT4...which I will surely miss as a road car even discounting it's boggo strangled non GT engine with dire economy!

The weight saving on the 991.2GTS steel vs PCCBs is 11.5kg , 991.2GT3 saving is 17kg ,GT4 is 18kg..I would make an educated guess that if the T's steels are the same smaller as standard carrera's then the saving would be about 10kgs.

Congrats! Very similar to my hypothetical spec when I was playing FWIW:

http://www.porsche-code.com/PJ2LM1D7

Given the black and yellow theme I added tinted rear lights (innit wink ) and yellow dials. If it was a real order I'd probably stump for the sports buckets as well. Be sure to try the 2 versions of bucket seat as i had Carrera GT (i.e. full) buckets in my old 997 GT3 and they were not comfy for me (I'm too wide, esp at the shoulder, but the hips were a squeeze too). Conversely in my 981 BGTS I had sports buckets and they were heaven.

Such a shame this car does not have a nasp engine, if it did I'd be all over it in a flash frown

Thanks. Agreed on the rear lights. I'll probably add them plus smokers pack and painted headlight washers

I had the sports buckets in my Cayman R and didn't really get on with them but I have a feeling that that would be addressed with the extra legroom that a 911 has so they're not fully discounted yet. The main issue I have with them at the moment is that the T interior (deviated stitching etc) is only available with the sport seats or the LWBs and I really like the T interior.

I sat in a LWB at Geneva and thought they were super comfy but obviously there is a world of difference between that and a 3 hour drive!

Very good.
And yes, as long as he doesn't keep posting it in inverted commas ad infinitum

Haven’t been following this thread and way too long to start now - Can some one save me the trouble please ? Is the general consensus that it’s :

A great seller
Average
No one interested ?

Have heard it occasionally mentioned on other threads in relation to it eating up overall build slots, so I assume it’s done OK ?

Cheers smile

Looking like (a). A swift sell out.

Much love for the GT3 touring lite.

Manual gearbox and lightweight spec, and, if the engine is as good as some suggest (for a turbo), then £ for £ it could be the best 991 you can buy.

Ha...wondered when you would appear on this thread Richard!

My advice...keep the GT4!

Think the T will be a reasonable value great basic package and quite rare but probably not as involving as the GT4.

My take on it summarised;

Not going to be many of them, between 6 & 10 at the OPC I have dealt with, so yes not too common.
Has the right bits and ethos, so if you trust Porsche to not cock it up, should be a very engaging road car.
Option it lightly in line with the advertised ethos it should be a good un.

It isn’t and doesn’t profess to be a track car like a GT4 or GT3, but it should it be a great driving road car, perhaps the most fun one at sensible speeds with an emphasis on how it drives not how fast you can go.

Is the above 100% true and can be trusted, probably not but I hope it’s true, mine is a likely delivery in April and I am really quite excited about it.

Acid test, would I swap it for a GT3 Touring, well ok got me there I would, but I am not on Porsche’s special person list to get one of those.... and besides which I would need to sell my Boxster Spyder to afford it and I am keeping that as it’s a special little car to me.

There you go 25 pages, done.

I’m lucky to have got a GT3 Touring arriving early next year, but if I hadn’t I would certainly have gone for the T car in Yellow with LWB’s, PCCB’s, RWS and coloured stitching. I would also probably have ordered it with the rear seats either deleted or fitted and then I would remove them and store them away.

I think it will be a great car and those who get one will have a superb car.

If i was getting a T that would be my exact colour and spec and a manual of course. Avoid the sunroof and all weight adding extras and Bob's your uncle..
