Ha...wondered when you would appear on this thread Richard!

My advice...keep the GT4!

Think the T will be a reasonable value great basic package and quite rare but probably not as involving as the GT4.

Oops - sold the GT4 - prefer the Spyder and 991.2 GT3 incoming smile

My take on it summarised;

Not going to be many of them, between 6 & 10 at the OPC I have dealt with, so yes not too common.
Has the right bits and ethos, so if you trust Porsche to not cock it up, should be a very engaging road car.
Option it lightly in line with the advertised ethos it should be a good un.

Is it, or does it profess to be, a track car like GT4 or GT3, no but it should it be a great driving road car, perhaps the most fun one at sensible speeds with an emphasis on how it drives not how fast you can go.

Is the above 100% true and can be trusted, probably not but I hope it’s true, mine is a likely delivery in April and I am really quite excited about it.

Acid test, would I swap it for a GT3 Touring, well ok got me there I would, but I am not on Porsche’s special person list to get one of those.... and besides which I would need to sell my Boxster Spyder to afford it and I am keeping that as it’s a special little car to me.

There you go 25 pages, done.
Thanks for that; very clear - Which Spyder do you have ? I have a 981 and love it. I've not driven the iteration before that but I hear they are great too.

My worry with the T - well in fact all the 991.2 911's, is the engine - I'm sure it's been debated on here, but I didn't get past that hurdle I'm afraid - not a fan of Turbo's - love NA : Either way, I hope that I'm wrong (certainly will not be the first or last time) and that you enjoy your car smile

Hi RSVP

With a name like that I couldn’t not reply.

I have a 2010 Boxster Spyder (987.2) as attached and it’s great, just a little bundle of fizzing fun and it’s staying in my garage for dry and sunny days when I only have one or less passengers.

I have a friend with a 981 Cayman S and that is a great car too, I can only imagine what a GT4 / Spyder is like.

I hope the T will be used more, well on dry days at least, ferrying kids to and from events which seems to be most of my weekend driving.

Next summer we are going to Switzerland (me, wife and two teenagers), I am trying to persuade my wife to drive the Spyder down and I can take the 911 Carrera T but she isn’t having it 😒.

Martin I am pleased you’ve got a GT3 Touring coming, I love the look without wings and I bet that engine in that package will be fab.

Cheers

Ed

Build date has fallen back a couple of weeks to the end of January / First week of February so it should be on the road for 1st March

I don’t share that opinion.

It’s not simple, the T is a modern package that appeals to many posters on this thread.

Nobody has driven one yet and published their experiences but I have spent some time in 991.2 cars and I don’t expect to be disappointed.

I think it will be a great car.

Haven’t been following this thread and way too long to start now - Can some one save me the trouble please ? Is the general consensus that it’s :

A great seller
Average
No one interested ?

Have heard it occasionally mentioned on other threads in relation to it eating up overall build slots, so I assume it’s done OK ?

Cheers smile
Hi Rich, we've got one on order and really looking forward to it. It will no doubt be made in small numbers - my OPC has only taken 2 orders. The manual C2 is a very good drive - gearbox is great, car is plenty fast enough and actually sounds alright - you can still hear the 6-cyl motor when its on song. Whereas the flat 4 in the 718 sounds nowhere near as good.

Going comfort spec as it will be a daily - should hopefully be a March/ April delivery.

My OPC told me they have one confirmed slot and are hoping for maybe a couple more. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. If I get one, it will be comfort spec for me to, including PDK.

The fact it doesn't say..."Limited avalalbility" on the Porsche config means it isn't, looking to order one myself next year

March/April build slot - can't wait driving

This is what I've gone for at the moment. I doubt it will change much a lot depends on how I get on with the different seat options at the PEC day

Liking it smile The LWB's are an acquired taste, if you fit them and don't need them folding forward, I think they are a great option on this car. I tried my best not to overspec what is essentially a relatively cheap way into a 911, but I've waited 43 years for my first 911 so thought sod it smile my spec is https://www.porsche.com/microsite/porsche-code/def... and I'm happy with that. Hopefully she's a keeper so residuals aren't an issue, although would be nice if I could tell the wife it is was a great investment for my retirement !!!!

I think the issue is that for a lot of nasp fans, the turbo engine is just not something they can ever love. Like yes, but not love. I really enjoyed my weekend in a manual 991.2 Carrera the other week. I even liked the engine quite a lot - thought it was much better in 370PS form than 420PS form in the S. But my thoughts about the engine never got past "like". It's effective, sounds good, revs out surprisingly well, but despite all their efforts, it always still feels a little woolly. And when you're lucky enough to currently be pedalling around a 997 GTS with plenty low end torque, a mega top end, and scalpel sharp throttle precision, a bit woolly just doesn't work for me on a £90K+ car. As I said last year when I drove the C2S, wasn't my cup of tea, but if you're new to Porsche, or were say coming out of a 996 Turbo, or are just someone for whom the engine plays a less central role in enjoyment of the car, you'd be virtually guaranteed to love a C2S. In the same vein, the T will no doubt be a great car, but not great enough for me personally to want to buy one.

I've no doubt Porsche will eventually work their magic on the engines and make them almost indistinguishable from nasp ones in terms of no lag/precision etc and eventually bring round people like me (much like they're doing with ePAS), but they're not there yet.

All 911's are effectively "Limited Availability" each OPC gets circa 75 new 911's a year (3000 UK cars, 40 OPC's)...those 75 cars are in relatively pre-determined numbers which when you start breaking down all the different 911 variations means that something like the T will only be built in small numbers....my guess is each OPC will get something like 6.

12 Carrera
12 Carrera S
10 GTS
10 to 15 GT cars
6 Turbo's
6 Targa's
6 Cabriolets
6 T's

I'd be amazed if OPC's don't have orders for all the T's they are likely to get there hands on already. Think I've read in this thread 200 to 300 cars for the UK which is in the area of my "fag packet" calculation above. I actually think they'll have more GT cars than that next year as they'll have GT3, GT2 RS and GT3 RS cars to deliver.....and there will probably be an end of line 991.2 Special (assuming next year is its last year of production) which will take up numbers too.

T vs 997 GTS is an interesting comparison....similar weight, GTS has more HP (but less Torque I assume) T will have the more sophisticated i.e. modern chassis/suspension and obviously the T will be more up to date inside (good and bad depending on view).
