Looking on Rennlist, it seems that PCNA has now issued letters, dated 27th November, to all owners of Gen 1 991 GT3s confirming the provision of the 10 year/120,000 mile warranty on the engine. Interestingly, the letter being issued in the States makes no reference specifically to 'finger follower' issues so the inference is that the engine is warranted for that mileage or period of time irrespective of failure mode.

Lifting from the Rennlist posts: " Effective at once, the limited warranty on all your vehicle's internal engine components continues for ten years from your vehicle's original in-service date, up to 120,000 total miles on your vehicle, which ever comes first."

As this warranty has been promised by Porsche AG to apply on a world-wide basis, presumably it's only a matter of days until UK owners receive a similar letter. Or shouldn't I hold my breath?

What's your OPC/Porsche GB said ? Surely that's the call to make. I'd probably be asking the service department as you would think they can check on their system what warranty coverage your car has.

I did remind my OPC about adding my 1yr gesture warranty on my 991GT3.1 after the expiration of its 3yr one a couple of weeks back. Nothing was mentioned about the 10yr warranty then so they obviously have not heard yet..

I suspect that the only way to get a ten year warranty on the engine in this country, is to extend the mfrs warranty, like everyone else!

I contacted PCGB when the news came out
they denied any knowledge of it
I contacted a few OPC service departments - they had heard nothing about it.

its bloody typical of Porsche in the UK - don't give a ste about customers & aftercare service.

Bear in mind the 10 year extension is for a very specific problem, not a general engine warranty.

I'm ok - mines been replaced by a G series engine, when it displayed the specific issue :-)

red997, that is what was initially said but the letters the US guys have got is for the engine itself so not limited to the finger follower problem.

I'm just buying a new Cayenne and had cause to raise problems I had with my 991 GT3 to Porsche GB's senior management to get a resolution. I will mail them tonight on their direct e-mail addresses to see what is going to happen in the UK.

Actually the new announcement from PCNA is a general engine warranty for 10 years not just for the finger followers. One has to wonder if it's really something that will apply for the rest of the world (despite the insistence of the rennlist guys there's been a very definite lack of 'official' acknowledge for ROW) or is it going to be a US/North America specific thing like iirc the IMS class action suit that only applied in the US. Has to be said though, very much doubt Porsche will refuse to honour a 'goodwill' engine change even if there isn't anything official.

From my understanding it does apply to UK cars, however it may be easier to get an answer from Germany. PCGB are still on a learning curverolleyes

I stand corrected on the coverage;
I hadn't read the latest updates on Rennlist.

Lets hope that Porsche GB will step up - I have my doubts though.
Maybe someone in Porsche Club GB could apply a little pressure?

This is very important information for someone who might consider buying a 991.1 GT3. Please post if something official turns out.

Hi, Just to let you all Global 991/1 GT3s have an extended 10 warranty or 120,000 miles which ever comes first and thats since Aug of this year and thats official.

The Disappointing aspect is that Porsche GB can't be bothered to report back to there UK customers either by e mail or write to the owners like they have in America to let them know whats going on. All they can say is they know nothing about it just like all there OPC's claim.

This is suppose to be a premium product and this is the way UK customers get treated appalling a better service to be had from Kia dealership.

Correct, mine had its 111 check done 5 weeks ago to activate its 4th yr gesture warranty. Nothing mentioned about the 10yrs coming in to effect..

Heard nothing via mail or email as of yet.

Yes more or less :-) It basically says:

  • **Preamble****
"We can hereby confirm that the Guarantee queried by you is also valid for your Porsche 911 GT3. This Guarantee extension is valid worldwide for engine components for the Porsche 991.1 model GT3 (model year 2014 - 2016). The validity of this Guarantee will last 10 years from the vehicle's first registration date or up to a total of 194,000km. "

Presuming this is a German customer who has asked his OPC whether the US announced engine guarantee also applies to his vehicle. So this looks like confirmation for Europe. But why on earth they don't just announce it properly or communicate it directly to owners in each country I have no idea....

Letter closes with "Dear sir...we hope with our explanations we have brought greater transparency to the situation" [uh-hmmmmm]

Surely you should just send your OPC or Porsche GB an email asking them to clarify the position with UK 991.1 GT3 in writing?
