Clubsport Edition 40
Discussion
i've noticed a few really low mileage Clubsport Edition 40's for sale mostly seem to be up north... less that 100 miles on the clock, anyone know the story with these?
are they euro/grey imports?
for example:

and this one:
http://www.greenacrehonda.com/approved-used/volksw...
2 year manufacturer warranty on the first one? there are a few others, all seem to be "fully loaded"

actually looking at the second one it does say import in the ad, what are the implications of having a imported car? i'm assuming 2 year warranty only then, can this be extended? just checked insurance, being an import doesn't seem to make any real difference
2 year warranty only.Vw UK top this up to 3.
Aside from that no differences. You may be able to purchase a warranty from VW. You'd need to ask.
Euro imports, that Honda dealer had about 4 or 5 in stock when i went to view before christmas, all "67" pre-reg, 3 or 5 door, black or white.....not sure the sat nav had correct UK map disc installed but apart from that nothing wrong with them except the 2 year warranty......also could not get any further discount from the advertised price.

thanks, yeah i spoke to them, they are were all imported from Ireland, they recon they had 25 and that's the last one "apparently".... 21 month warranty remaining, good point on the disc, didn't think of that!assuming you didn't buy one then?

No, I didn't buy one but still tempted.
I've got a well specced 2016 Golf R at the moment but there's something about these Clubsports that look and feel a bit more special.
In case you didn't know the engines are the same (Clubsport, Clubsport S and Golf R) so they all map to the same bhp if you're into tuning them.

interesting, i was looking for a second had Golf R, bit at £20k with a bit of man maths and and drive the deal discount it seems better "value" to buy a new one... which got me looking at nearly new cars, which don't actually seem cheaper than a DTD discounted new car either! these few clubsports stick out as the best of both worlds, nearly new and a decent discount and physically available... just am shame there all so far away from me?
whats specs your R? 3door, lapiz, Dsg, heated seats by any chance?

Hi mate
With regards to the one at Honda. Im currently chatting to a sales chap there. The car is about 150miles away from me. TBH the import part really puts me off. Its a non UK car and ill put money on it if you kept it until the warranty runs out it'll be worth a good bit less than a true UK car. Looks a great spec. On a plus note you can get a new R with same spec for £29k and full three years warranty if you have an old diesel trade-in (which I do) . Thats where I'm at. I am tempted but import part is a non starter for me.

More likely to be a light dip in value during yr3 when there's no 'official' warranty from VW UK, but after the standard warranty runs out it won't make any odds.If the basic spec of the car is no worse than the UK spec then in this day and age it will make no difference at all.

We bought a TT from a German dealer back in 2002 and had it built to full UK spec.
Made absolutely no difference to price when we came to sell. So long as it has the same spec as the UK cars, no one really cares.
I did exactly the same thing in 1999 with a Golf MK4 GTi Turbo. Kept the car three years and come to sales time it made no difference at all and I sold it quite quickly.Made absolutely no difference to price when we came to sell. So long as it has the same spec as the UK cars, no one really cares.

7.5 updates worthwhile having too. R for me if they are the same money. Some of these low mileage clubsports are 9 months old and registered so just over a year warranty With regards to the one at Honda. Im currently chatting to a sales chap there. They are very slow selling - hence the big discounts. Volkswizard had a high spec - buckets, roof, DSG etc - UK one they could not shift for months. Eventually went for £25k in September from memory.

Yup mate they did. A black one and they sold it at a loss. Looked fantastic except it was black. I’m holding out for a Clubsport S. The right one will come up soon.
