On my brothers 997 Turbo he has Ruf alloys, it is the same tyre size as OEM however it has an aggressive offset, there is only a small gap between the arch and tyre, however it does not rub.

We just came back from euro tour and when he was doing over 150mph there was lots of vibration, none up to that speed. I know usually it would be the wheel balance to check but he had it done recently. Could it be the offset causing this?

Maybe have balancing done again and ask them to check the wheels for damage at the same time. Were the wheels bought new or used? You should have zero problems with Ruf wheels if they're specifically for a 997 turbo. Whats the offset?

I'm thinking if balance issue it would have been noticed at the speeds below 150?
Maybe. I'm not concentrating on vibration at 150mph lol just trying to stay alive. What are the off sets? Also check all your aero fins under the car in place. If you lose one say in front of the right front wheel and the left one gone yo a speed hump I've had this causing high speed instability but can't remember vibration. Certainly I'd guess something off on one of the wheels. Maybe buckled or an incorrectly fitted tyre etc. Rare but does happen.
