Mild panic at the moment !

Porsche Insurance via Aviva are refusing to insure my new 991.2 GT3 ( arrives Saturday ) as I don't have it garaged

I have asked for cover at £175,000 as that is the replacement cost ( or more!)

I am waiting to hear back if I drop back to £150,000 where I sit with my current GT3

All help welcomed !!

Best

I insure all my cars including my new GT3 with NFU..I highly recommend them and have an agreed value of £185k..Another huge bonus with NFU is there is a two year new car replacement included in the policy which makes GAP insurance unnecessary..Avoid seemingly cheap on-line brokers like the plague unless you have a direct line number to speak to a real person.

Edit to add: Porsche insurance via Aviva are a total waste of space IMHO...and personal experience !!.

My GT4 was to be insured with NFU but I changed to another insurer after they confirmed they could not insure over for list for new cars in the event of a total loss claim.

Have you managed to get agreed value over list with them as this was not possible when I tried?

Manning cannot insure new cars over list which are less than 1 year old.

If it would cost £175k to replace and you insure for £150k only (85.71% of replacement cost) a total loss would pay you £128,565 due to your under-insurance, or 85.71% of any partial loss/claim. This is the "average" clause in all insurances.

May seem like a good idea not to insure for its proper value when paying the premium, but not when wanting a pay out.

Both NFU and Locktons have offered me agreed value at £190k so long as I get a PCGB valuation done. I will be activating the Porsche Tracker for extra piece of mind.

GAP is no use on the GT3 as it will only pay out RRP which is £135-140k

Note that NFU don't actually insist on tracker, for what its worth.

They told me this but I think the extra piece of mind is worth it for the small cost outlay

NFU declined as my Twickenham post code was out of range - that was the line anyway ?

Locktons - very easy to deal with , no hassle whatsoever . Googled my address and checked the house + drive so happy

Aviva - total decline at £180,000 if no garage . At £140,000 happy to renew

I asked Aviva again out of courtesy but " no thanks " was the reply

Interesting exercise !!

B, roughly what was the premium on agreed value £180k?

My quote at £185k agreed value was just under £900 with the factory tracker fitted and activated and the car kept in my garage when not in use. I have gone for 3k miles per annum.

I'm with NFU and I gave them the same value and it has that on my paperwork but I'm sure they'll only pay out Invoice cost as they told me they don't insure 'agreed value' cover

I insured mine a few months ago and the car wasn't on their system then so they just described the car on the paperwork
