the term 'legend' so way over used these days, but Dan Gurney was indeed just that. Humble, approachable, fast. RIP Daniel Sexton Gurney.

His Eagles were amongst the most beautiful F1 cars of all time, and is it just apocryphal or did they really put the Gurney hump in the roof of some GT40s to accommodate his height .

I believe that at Jim Clark's funeral, his father told Gurney that he was the only driver Jim really feared, does it get any better than that?

Possibly his least successful of his ventures, but I for one are extremely grateful to him for this.

It's known as the Gurney Bubble. Originally fitted to the Ford Mk IV
