Saturday morning musing (talkin' to myself)
Discussion
Love my 911 but just have a feeling it'll be much cooler when it's older.
Although I've had it a year now, I can't help looking forward to it being at least five years old. It'll acquire some character, a patina (metaphorically speaking I hope). And it'll be the first time in forever I've not bought new and changed after two years. It's a 911 and I hope it'll grow old with me.
Just a Saturday morning musing.

Funny - that's exactly how I feel about my Cayman GTS! It's coming up to two years old and its first service, and I can't wait for the weather to pick up so I can enjoy it even more than I already do.
I think we'll look back on the 997/991 and 987/981 as "peak Porsche" in the future...

If you are planning to keep it forever I’d look at what problems there are on older models and do some pre-emptive maintenance. E.g. exhaust manifold bolts on 996. £120 and a couple of hours labour to convert to titanium studs / k-nuts now may save ££££ in the future. Ditto removing certain bolts on the engine and applying coppa slip now will prevent future snappages!!
I’ve recently purchased a 2003 996 and whilst addressing some of these items is enjoyable they could have easily been avoided.

Ian
