996 GT3 lights
Discussion
I,am looking at 996 GT 3
There’s a lot of replica s about on forecourts .
Do they have headlight washers ? Suspect not ,but then may have zenon which understand need washers too ??
Is the rear 1/2 gage on the club sport modals bolted in in such a way the bolts are exposed .
Or is a factory fit I bit more discrete- no exposed bolts .?

Chassis number is the best single tell. I may be wrong, but I think a rear windscreen wiper also tells you its not a GT3 (easy if you are just browsing online but also easy to remove).
Once you drive one, you will immediately know the difference between a Mezger and the standard engine

Chassis no on / under the edge - the windscreen?
Will it have “GT3 “ in there somewhere in the sequence is that what you mean ?
Top of my head the GT3 has an 'S69' just before the final 6-odd serial number digits. A call to an OPC service/parts department or an Indy will confirm.Chassis no on / under the edge - the windscreen?

A factory clubsport will have M003 designation in the options code. These codes can be found under the bonnet sticker, service book, or again a call to an OPC centre quoting the full VIN number.
It does indeed have an S69, just checked mine. If you are serious about a 996 GT3 get yourself across to 911UK and read the various bits on there. Also I would only buy one from a relatively small group of Independent Porsche garages, namely 911Virgin/RPM/JZM etc. Ive just recently bought mine and it's worn doing your research, there are a lot of 'known' cars out there, and all for the wrong reason!
They only made 103 UK RHD and there are only 89 left, of which 26 are Clubsports, it's a small market place and it may take you a while to find one.

Thx everyone.
I was initially looking @ Swiss gt3,s with a view to keeping it in my holiday home .
There too much hassle of Registration/ insurance and the car tax equivalent would be CHF 979 , insurance CHF nearer 1500 .
I would have to surrender by U.K. licence take out a Swiss ( to buy a car and reg it ) .
Then in theory if I took it out of Switzerland I could be clobbered as a none resident for various export / import paperwork.
Conclusion too much hassle going down that route .
Pity as prices are softer here .
So it’s gonna have to be a U.K. car - easy peasey to buy ,and run via our U.K. address .
But I,am not in the U.K. ( home domicile) a lot these days .

I went down your route when sourcing my GT3 - looked at and was about to pull the trigger on a Swiss 996.1 CS in yellow. The day I called to place a deposit it had sold first thing in the morning. Anyway, I have kept an eye on the market, as interesting cars do appear from time to time. Good cars sell straight away for good money, dogs have been for sale since 2014! I ended up buying my car from Germany - but now they are more expensive then here...I was initially looking @ Swiss gt3,s with a view to keeping it in my holiday home .
