I'm in need of a very good and big (as in several kg's) pork pie. A Melton Mowbray is preferred and I'm in South oxon so mail order is probably required.

Plan b would be a huntsman or game type alternative. Needs to fuel some celebratory beer drinking.

Any excellent butcher or pie maker recommendations?

My dad reckons these are decent - they have a shop near them and he's always buying stuff from there! Tasted pretty good to me.

They seem to do pretty large pies (4kg)...Have to say that the pictures of the big ones don't look anywhere near as good as the smaller ones - meat to crust to jelly ratio looks all wrong to me...you might be better off with a few smaller ones as this will be down to simple dimensions.

Disappointing that the biggest pie is a mere 1.3 kg. Yet they also sell this monster block of cheese- https://www.porkpie.co.uk/blue-stilton-half-a-whol...

I'm sure they'd do bespoke orders. The parent company do the very large ones you see at the deli counters of Supermarkets.

Big fan of DM pies, will investigate. Needs to be a large pork pie to stand any chance of circumventing the 'celebration cake only' rules of where we'll be.

Griffins butchers Newbury, they have won awards for their pork pies

Might be worth calling them and see if they will do a bespoke pie for you and you wont need to worry about post

Most probably made by the group that owns Dickinson & Morris.

My local butcher will do you up to a 15lb pork pie! They are very good, too...
