We are soon planning on leaving our son with a baby sitter. In theory the neighbours 16 year old son, to allow us to a birthday event next month.

Now, I trust him as much a one could, and his parents are next door but I would still feel happier on the first few times having a camera in sounds room.

Can anyone recommend a camera, with night vision, that can be viewers via the Internet?

Thanks

I can highly recommend one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ebitcam-Monitoring-Record...

We use it for monitoring the dogs when are out and about without them and it provides superb image quality. Also its easy to setup and configure. The Pan, Tilt and Zoom stuff via gesture control on the app is excellent too!

I'm a big Nest fan.

They work brilliantly however they are a bit spendy.

£50 Foscam jobbie for a cheap and cheerful solution. I use one for exactly the purpose you describe.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Foscam-FI8918W-Wireless-C...

Can be setup to be viewed over the internet with port forwarding. Works with baby monitor apps on a tablet which will give you alarms etc.

Thanks for the reminder; https://www.wyzecam.com/product/wyze-cam/
$20.

They're back in stock. I've ordered a couple, worth a punt at that price.

There's external enclosures for them too, so while they're not exactly a substitute for a proper security camera, there's some utility value....that being said, def. a candidate for the frivolous purchases thread.

I've tested quite a few recently and settled on a combination of D-Link 935L, which are small, fixed lens cameras and Foscam 9826P which is a PTZ with optical zoom. These have been the most reliable with good image quality and night modes. There's no shortage of IP cameras on Amazon, so choosing between them is the issue.

Personally, I'd avoid anything under £40 or so. Make sure you can set them up manually so you can control the IP settings rather than being forced to use a dodgy cloud-based service somewhere in China.

check out canary little bit pricy but has been really good, plus you don't need to open up external ports inbound to your network.

No need to open ports etc with this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XPJHW34/ref...

Follow instructions to set up the camera.

Install app on phone, search and add the camera and once it's found it ... it works either on wifi or mobile data connection.

I have no idea how it works .... but it does.

Indeed the one I linked to doesn't require port forwarding or a subscription either

If anyone's looking for something similar and has a bit more time on their hands to wait for shipping, you could always get yourself something which is functionally the same, but buy from a source closer to the manufacturer - e.g. one of the Chinese resellers like Banggood or alibabaexpress, etc

Here's an example wifi camera with pan and tilt, I mean it's under 15 quid (including shipping) so if you can play the waiting game you can't go wrong really.
