A lot of people I know especially men have some form of OCD.
Mine
Have to write with black ink. Do not know why and do not have any thoughts as to what would happen if I didn’t. I just have to use black ink and always carry a black biro with me just in case visitors books or check ins only have blue.

Car climate control has to be set to a whole degree so no 19.5 or 20.5. Has to be 19 or 20 etc. Again I have no idea as to why.

What are yours?

Just my leaving the house ritual...

Check patio doors locked.
Bathroom tap closed, toilet seat down.
Mains plugs in/out as necessary.
Fridge/freezer doors closed.
Give cat Dreamies treat.
Lights out, stair head door closed.

Then downstairs...

Porch light on.
Alarm on.
Pat stone cat on windowsill and say, 'Bye Malplaquet.'
Bugger off.

I'm sure there are worse but this works for me. It means there'll be no scary water bill
and the cat won't drink from the toilet bowl or go downstairs and pee.
When I get my keys and put on my coat, said cat meows for her Dreamies.

Job jobbed nuts

Cup of tea, kettle has to be just boiled when I pour it, if it clicks off and I'm the other side of the kitchen, I have to boil it again before I pour it. (Tiny kitchen btw)

I hate the fact it’s called OCD - should be CDO.

I'm in a band and we just play the same song over and over again. We're called OC/DC.

Car stereo has to have the volume set to an even number, but is also permissible to end with a 5.

Car volume control must also point to 12 o'clock, and can only be controlled by the dial on the steering wheel. If adjusted on the centre console, stereo must be turned off and volume control adjusted to 12 o'clock before turning the stereo back on.

Tins go on the top shelf, bagged spices on the middle shelf, jarred spices on the bottom shelf.

I think (hope) that's it.

Always open crisp packets upside down (as in the packet’s upside down, not me when I open them), dials in the car set to even numbers or multiples of five, TV volume either 25 or 30.

My boy always neatly lines the shoes up by the front door. Always. When you come home you always know whether he’s home first or ot by looking at the shoes. He does the same at his girlfriend’s house when he visits her too. Natch I jumble them up when I get home.

None of these are really OCD are they?

Fussy maybe
Some are just ordinary routines, locking the house unplugging things are ordinary behaviours.

OCD is a seriously disruptive mental illness

yes

"'I have to sort my books!' she cried,
With self-indulgent glee;
With senseless, narcissistic pride:
'I'm just so OCD!'
'How random, guys!' I smiled and said,
Then left without a peep -
And washed my hands until they bled,
And cried myself to sleep.

Never 19. Even numbers only, always, and for ever.

Well said, it's about time people stopped being lazy and came up with another catchy name for what is effectively normal behaviour tailored around their daily routine.

OCD isn't some trendy quirk, it's horrific for those affected.

I'm diagnosed with OCPD and am incredibly grateful for that extra P.

Nothing so serious in my head and certainly not OCD

My only real "thing" is I turn off wall sockets when an electrical appliance is not in use.
