Hi folks, just like too introduce myself as a new recently passed member of IAM, passed first time, with zero tuition in November, with first class pass, and I'm only 72 years young. David

None, I did take and passed an IAM Test when I was 18, let membership lapse, and decided too go for it again, just proves that what you learned all those years ago stays with you through life.

Passed my test at 17 ,then passed my IAM test at 19, and at 21 became a driving instructor.
I don't really like the term Advanced driver.Driving well, takes years,I am now 55 and have been driving 38 years. At 21 I wasn't a great driver, but had the right attitude and was willing to learn....and I am still learning and making mistakes!
"Advanced driving" doesn't mean anything, just that perhaps you are more Advanced than the" Average" driver who drives to a poor standard, due to their attitude.
I prefer the term Skilled driver (thinking, considerate and safe)
Happy driving.

Same chronological order as me - just eight years later. And same sentiments.

I'm still learning - currently training for a Road Train licence.

It’s a pity no-one’s managed to think of any significant improvements to driving skills in the past 50-odd years.

The way humans work and the laws of physics haven't changed much, so I guess the skills are the same.

Roads, laws, attitudes and cars are different though, and these changes are reflected in the current IAM Roadsmart course.
