997.2 3.8 GT3 RS - MKT ???
Discussion
just thinking out load ...kicking some tyres.....
is this where the mkt is for the 997.2 GT3 RS ? - Sub £160k for a great looking car from a well respected dealer ?? am I missing something ?
Means the Silverstone (ex Hong Kong car) might struggle to make bottom of its range (£140k) as with buyers premium that's £162k.

That Paul Stephens car seems to have been around for ages and I think it was the same one that sat unsold at JZM for a while too, not sure. Didn't have front lift as I recall but that doesn't really explain why it was slow to sell or why it appears to be really well priced. I would have said £170k + is where they are at now but that one just didn't seem to shift.

Looks like you are using the worst car on the market which was difficult to sell, low spec, and high miles as your market reference point.is this where the mkt is for the 997.2 GT3 RS ? - Sub £160k for a great looking car from a well respected dealer ?? am I missing something ?

At the other end of the scale, the following sold in hours just a week or so ago and was advertised at £190k
So I guess the market is somewhere in the middle of the two references (depending on spec, colour, mileage)

Admit the blue car did strike me as ‘cheap’ ., hence the post ??At the other end of the scale, the following sold in hours just a week or so ago and was advertised at £190k

What are must have spec items ?
Any thoughts on the silverstone auction car.

14k is now high miles on a 7 year old car ?
that's the issue with the market expectations.
sorry - you are right. I'll stamp on my foot a few times that's the issue with the market expectations.
No, 14k miles is not high miles...and cars with higher miles than that have sold more easily including one of mine which was 19k miles and was up at £183k I think about 6 months ago - and this was whilst that blue one was on the market and still not selling.
Colour and spec are quite sensitive as they have always been on GT cars. Eg CS vs non CS, etc.
Blue is a great colour but appeals to a smaller market. The spec I believe was a bit compromised - no lift (which regardless of whether we think we would use it, it does affect demand), and I believe lower spec interior... I have no knowledge if there was anything else awry about the car (but if there was it could also affect its popularity)
The Paul Stephens car sold in the last week according to their Twitter feed.
I doubt that white car sold at JZM sold for close to £190k...they had a 7k mile Grey/Black car up for sale for three or four months which was up for that price or maybe a bit lower which has disappeared from their website around the same time this one sold. Pretty sure the car was SoR so I imagine the owner took it back.
It seems a fair coincidence that a car came into stock and sold immediately and that at the same time a car that had been in stock for three months was withdrawn from sale.

Difficult to say 'must have'...as you can get a lower spec car for less money and a higher spec car for more money....unless we are talking about speccing a new car in which case I would say manual clubsport is the 'must have' spec What are must have spec items ?

For a 7.2 RS, I would say the higher priced ones will have:
- The darker grey colours / PTS
- Lift
- PCCB (regular trackers can remove and use alternatives, though not many tracked at the moment)
- Extended leather interior (nicer place to be)
- Internal electronics (Sat Nav, Universal Media, etc) - even though an iPhone has better navigation, the integral satnav unit just finishes off the interior better
- decent mileage (currently I would say sub 20k)
- clean history
- other options are nice to have I guess.
The above are not hard and fast rules. Eg the JZM car I linked above was white with red (historically not the most in demand combo, even though it is a classic livery for RS cars), however it was a very very well specced clean car with decent mileage so not surprising it went that quickly. A high spec blue car would therefore also be fine, etc, etc.
I suppose it is fair to say that the range is quite broad.

I don't know the Silverstone car, but blue and red would be a smaller market in my opinion. What are must have spec items ?

I must say though, I am not a fan of buying from auctions. The few I have seen in the past are typically there because they would not sell/be acceptable at a dealer forecourt. I much prefer buying from previous owner so that I can get some comfort about the car and the level of enthusiasm it was treated with.
...or from a respected dealer/indy who I would trust, can check out the car, etc.
I bought a 4,500 mile 2 owner car from an OPC in 2017 and whilst it didn't have PCCB it did have lift, Nav, and extended leather - importantly (for me) it had a well documented OPC history, no over-revs, and original paint - paid a tad over 180 which included 2 years extended warranty.
As these cars get older there's a wider spread of prices as the condition / quality of the available cars diverges

Sold my grey/black .2GT3 RS last year for 165K (return to me) to a dealer on SOR.
steel brakes, red wheels/decals, carbon interior trim, lift, pcm etc 8K miles but 5 previous owners which seemed to put a few potential buyers off.
A decision i've regretted ever since! What seemed right at the time looks stupid and without proper thought when looking back.

That’s a lovely looking car and great spec. I donMt know why people are put off by a high number of owners on cars like this, it nearly comes with the territory.
I’ve had a good back to back drive of the 7.2 RS and 1.1 GT3 and I would pick the former every time. Reasonable price difference but the older car is much more enjoyable IMV and a lot of it is to do with the gearbox.

Grey Black with Red would be my personal colour preference - I think it suits the car perfectly. I'm currently browsing and torn between the 997-2 GT3 RS and 991-1. I appreciate quite different cars but both appealing. The manual box may take it.
I ran this alongside a 991.1 GT3RS for a short while. I much preferred the 997. Gearbox played a massive part of that no doubt about it but it also just felt more special and had more drama about it to me.These cars are at a level where performance no longer comes in to it, there both very quick and capable cars. For me it’s all about how a car makes you feel and the enjoyment it gives you.
I sold mine as I got caught up in wanting the newest/shiniest model. Definitely a lesson learnt.

I think it was your car in the paddock at last year's RS day at Oulton Park, you came and asked me about paint protection that I'd had done, right? These cars are at a level where performance no longer comes in to it, there both very quick and capable cars. I've not driven a 997.2 3.8 RS, but have tried the 991.1 RS and would agree that the whole experience of the 99.1 cars is very, very different. It's not 'worse' and there are some positives, but there's no doubt that overall the earlier cars seem to feel more involving.
There have been a couple of these grey and red 997.2 RSs through JZM. I saw one in the metal when I was last collecting my car from them and they look stunning in the metal. Looks-wise, the best GT3 IMHO.
