Any insights into RWD vs AWD? I read that the "more powerful versions" of the 992 Carrera will AWD only...
Turbo's been AWD only for years! I'd be staggered if they went AWD only lower in the range. Just don't think they need it.
Rumour has it that also S/GTS might be AWD only. Looking at the cars I see on the street, there is indeed a large overhang of AWDs around. Porsche might for once try to simplify its portfolio - not to the better though

Makes me wonder if the AWD transmissions are getting as good as the PDK systems. By that I mean early 4x4 911's were certainly a different drive, same as Tiptronic were a poor relation to manuals. Maybe we'll see the latest gen AWD transmissions to be that good we really don't know they are present.... just a thought.

On the 992 pic.... looks futuristic in some ways, Tron-esque maybe but nothing radical. I'm sure they'll sell as many as they can make tho!

edit: Is the 992 platform touted to include a hybrid system too? 7 year life span for the platform, so highly likely?

The pricing of the Hybrid made it hard to ignore it....even without tax incentives it was the stand out "value" in the range.

Going to be very interesting to see how the 992 range is structured is as people have written above that the S/GTS are AWD...that will create more teeth gnashing than 991.2 going Turbo I reckon!

Someone posted on the "T" thread recently that the spoiler on the 991.2 actually has different settings...he noticed that it raises higher when he has the sunroof open and posted a couple of pics.

I'd imagine that the spoiler could definitely have multiple settings "active aero"...marketing dept would want it even if it did F. All !

Yep. 991.2 in sport mode or sport+, the spoiler will also raise under extremely braking, and change down a gear or 3 (PDK) to add
some engine breaking
In addition to sunroof & engine / intercooler temps

Looks pants, will look even worse with the spoiler up, and with the 3.0 Turbo carting it along it'll likely sound bad too.

Unless there is a surprising reveal I see my hopes of a Touring rapidly receding 😭

Chaps,

I’ve come over to Stuttgart this week and have visited the factory for a tour.... we couldn’t see the full production line as we were informed there are cars going through which we can’t see..... Make of that what you will but probably some early 992’s or maybe GT4’s.... etc...or some more awesome T’s..!

As for Mission E this is being produced in a whole new building which is still at concrete frame stage....so way off ... got to be 18 months before that’s finished and apparently they need to build a 800metre bridge to get to the paint shop..... ! 700m Euro investment...!
