I am due to collect my car this week ,but the forecast has me worried .I am due to collect the car on Thursday from Bolton and drive back down to the Cotswolds. The forecast is snow in the northwest on Wednesday and snow where I live on Thursday.
Most of the journey will be motorway but there is a 30 mile A road run from the motorway to home .
Will the car (more the tyres ) perform in such conditions ?
I would prefer not to delay it so need either some comforting regarding its cold weather grip ,or confirmation that the tyres really are crap
In the cold.
Cup 2's are a liability in freezing weather from my experience. If you can't generate heat in them when you come to a roundabout you'll find the grip, at the back especially, just doesn't exist. Unless you do 5 mph everywhere. To get around this I fitted MP4S which while are still a summer sports tyre you do have a better temperature operating range and are miles better in the wet. No matter what I wouldn't be driving my car with snow on the road unless I had winters on. Although I could probably count those days on 1 hand so not really missing that many driving days because of not having them.

There's a very old phrase; "In like a lion, out like a lamb" which does suggest these weather conditions can and do happen.

I’m not sure 3 or 4 days of potential road issues warrants a set of new wheels and tyres.

Just pick the damn car up, buddy. A few over reacting post above. I drive my 991GT3 throughout the winter and the cup 2’s are just fine. A GT3 talks to the driver through each of the drivers butt cheeks so you will know exactly how hard to push her..

So, go and get her and enjoy her eek.
