Strange thread ..... the one thing I had noticed in the years it took to get a car .... was yes , the pressure the sales team are under and I always respected that . It simply is not easy for them as well .That is life they have a job which is compounded by social media pressure ...

I had a chat with my sales guy and , yes, I could really see their side of the coin too..

To please one means you have to displease another. No winners really..

I can see why it’s a tough call from them, but the dealerships are the ones taking the largest slice of the overs pie.

Spoke to a chap last night, he had just sold his GT3 RS back to the dealer (for list otherwise he won’t get a gen 2 GT3)

They immediately flipped it on for around £45k profit.

Have any of you been a salesman?? Hardly think clients fighting over trying to buy your cars can be classed as a difficult situation as much a first world problem as not being able to order a gt3 new cos they are in a bubble

Don't know if anyone else has heard, but latest is dealerships will soon only be giving GT cars to best customers who have spent the most money. This was said to me last week and never having bought a new car from an OPC count myself lucky to be getting an RS.

Having said the above, that system might work for a short while but if my RS is desirable in the future to an OPC, the only way they are getting it is in exchange for the latest GT car.

Thanks.

That's ridiculous.

Yes, indeed, think PDK has purchased used units though..

A selling unit is a unit out the door so it’s still business..

Whilst I know there are lots of people who want a GT for how it drives, the vast majority will want it because of the prospect of selling at a premium or at least having no depreciation. I wonder how many would be considering “building relationships” if there was only a depreciating asset at the end of the rainbow.

Seems to me that everyone involved has some blame in the whole sorry situation.

that makes things worse as the same people would get the cars thus spending more thus getting the next GT3 !

Jeez richboys... just buy 996s, they're better to drive anyway and you could just throw them out once they get dirty.

I suspect the "having spent the most money" criteria will be one criteria alongside those customers who don't have something to PX at an attractive price.

Whether people like it or not as they might not have a 20 year buying history of GT cars it's hard to argue with the best customers getting the GT cars. Might end up in more cars getting flipped though. From what I understand the 2RS at JZM was bought by someone who wasn't happy about not getting a 3RS allocation so has decided to flip the 2RS and doesn't care what the OPC thinks. Apparently bought a lot of cars from the OPC and felt he should get one of anything special....

You can sort of see the process; wealthy, influential individual, very possibly used to getting their own way most of the time in life. They define themselves as being "the Porsche GT guy", so their ego is heavily invested in the whole, newest, latest, fastest, most expensive etc. etc.

It's no wonder the toys come out of the pram in certain cases.

1st world problems. well, no, in fact, 0.5 percentile problems. hehe

Mine too. But seems from reading on here at least that it's the exception rather than the rule.

When the market returns to something like normal this will all be a distant bad memory, chatting to a Pork BM a few months ago and he was recounting the days only a few years ago when they had to discount GT2's to get rid of them, now wouldn't that be something to look forward to again...

We are all buyers and sellers. It’s just that some are more gentlemenly about the way that go about it than others.

May never happen.

Low interest rates with possible future rises less likely, underpriced restricted production of GT cars way ahead of the competition in an increasingly diluted motoring world should help to guarantee this.

Or just set a higher price point for new cars. It took me 3 phone calls to get a GT3 build slot here in the Netherlands with about 6 weeks wait for delivery. I have no history in buying or servicing from any OPC here before. The annoying thing is the car retails at double the price of the UK....
