Yes ..... only things I specced on my new RS ,is steel brakes and aluminium pedals ...... built for use . simple . Ceramics are great on the Kings road but that is a mile south of me ...and put on 1,800 miles in the last few weeks ..... also hit the rev limiter ...... oops silly me ... worth nothing now

991.1 RS Great car but it has been superseded by the 991.2 RS. By that I mean that I cant see anything on the .1 RS that appeals to me over the .2 RS.

If your budget stretches to a 991.1 RS get a 991.2 GT3 Touring (with the manual gearbox) Not only is it a more involving car to drive (subjective opinion of course) it will retain a greater portion of its value that either of the 991.1 variants for the reasons stated above.
The touring is pretty useless tho. Better getting a gt3 manual clubsport. Street and track able fun. I would still pick a 991.1 rs, they are getting so cheap, but this is me, i have the mod bug and I could build a .1 rs to a better car than the .2 rs for much less than the delta between them.

Seems like this is where the most recent discussion on the 997 RS has been...couple of interesting cars in the classifieds...one sold

32k mile car at an OPC for £145k which is the cheapest car I've seen for an awfully long time. JZM has a car in the low £150k area which IIRC had 20k miles on it. Amazed it was up for that at an OPC.

And this one which is quite something ! LHD 4.0 RS which has been re-shelled into a RHD car using a Cat D 997.2 4S body...up for £250k. No offence to the owner but that seems like a huge amount of effort to go to. And given what LHD cars go for probably not a profitable one....

I can only think that the OPC Teeside 'had' to be priced a bit less than other, similar cars, purely because it was 'up North'. I did not think it would stick around for long though.

The other car, the Mexico blue 4.0 was at the Outlon Park RS day earlier this year. I'm really not sure where I am with it, but it looks nice.

Bonkers ! (There must be another story to this). You don‘t re-shel a LHD 4.0 unless there is a reason to do so.

Maybe that's right with the Teesside car but OPC Leeds do well and they're certainly a lot further north than where I live! Biggest OPC in the country I believe.

I saw the Teesside GT3RS a couple of weeks ago and it is in immaculate condition. I would guess it has had a new front splitter and plastic side sills fitted as they were unmarked. The drivers seat and interior looks like a car that has done 6k miles not 32k miles.

I was tempted to ask more but don't think I could part with my GT3 Touring for it.

"Sophistication?! I've been t'Leeds!"

Leeds is pretty busy, they even have Swiss private banks entering the UK market there. They also get the Harrogate crowd in there too, along with the filthy-rich East Yorkshire farmers too.

Middlesborough is, to put it kindly, not so well served.

I'm sure there's enough filthy new money around Boro to service a dealership. Clearly Porsche must be the brand of choice for such people...

One of my best mates is a Smoggie....he doesn't speak highly of the Boro. He refuses to take us up there for a boys weekend.

Make me chuckle when Frankie Boyle had a go at the place on Have I Got News For You. I don't remember what he first said, but someone pointed out the people of Middlesborough would not be happy, to which he replied "You don't think they're watching this right now on a Friday night do you? They'll be in the street, fighting, naked".

Another lovely low mileage 991.1 gt3 rs has popped up for sale at a OPC recently, great spec to and in one of the best colours at a price which makes all others look very over priced.

The Glasgow UV car has been on sale for a while and now at £169k. Looking at the spec I can’t see why it hasn’t sold. It doesn’t have lift. Is lift a big requirement?

If you want any chance of being able to use it on normal roads lift is required IMO.

I still stink these have further to fall price wise, far to many of them produced and the demand doesn’t seem to be there.

Sorry but lift being essential is a total myth, the 991 RS models have pretty good clearance compared to earlier 996's GT3 I had and the Glasgow UV car is my old one, never grounded once.. I also do not have lift in 991 Mk2 RS. Jeezus, I even see lift on 991 TTS Mk2's now, yet done 20,000 miles in mk1 TTS with no issue ever.

Pity the wheels are now black, was much nicer in their original silver.

Agree the true market for RS models has always been and continues to be smaller than the supply of cars . The GT3 is what most want ...

I agree 100%. Myth. Makes me smile when people say lift is essential for resale. It's not. Ok I wouldn't dismiss a car with lift, but I'd always favour a car without it. My old GT4 was lower than my 991.2 GT3, and neither caused me any more trouble than a simple harmless rub occasionally on a bigger-than-average speed hump. People need to stop believing everything they read on forums. *

  • to be fair, I was a believer that 'Lift' was essential when I bought my 997.2 GT3 and used to use it everywhere. It wasn't until it failed a couple of times that I realised if I took the speedhump or ramp with care, I'd be fine. I stopped using it after that. Never had to replace a front bumper or splitter once.

regarding latest incarnations - It's still a small market for this type of product and once the speculators get wind of a downturn in it, the market will get even smaller. We have a lot of cars of this type in the UK, and more incoming. Not meant to be a doom in gloom post, but we've seen a few years of limited-supply vs demand = free motoring and some of us being paid for the privilege too. Turn it upside down and we'll see the opposite effect.
