I agree and in total contrast, my Mrs refuses point blank to even get in my GT3..I've had my GT3 for nearly 10 months and 2k+ miles and she has never even sat in it. OTOH she loves going in my Spyder as long as the top is down..
I suspect she has zero confidence in my driving ability in terms of being able to handle 500HP.

Once in 12 years ;-) 50 mile leisurely drive to the coast, when she got out and had finished with a barrage of expletives told me she was getting a taxi home! Never been in it or any other Pork since which is probably a good thing for the marriage!

Crikey..i'm pretty amazed you walked from from that one..I would have thought that not wearing the 6 points would have helped you and potentially saved your neck..and i'm mean that literally..Airbags aren't as effective when the driver is strapped in with 6 points..
possibly yes, but in exchange the windshield carved a nice piece out of my scalp down to the bone. I looked like a zombie with part of my head hanging off and completely drenched in blood. Probably quite a sight for the people who stopped to help me.... zombie with a dog in his arms (captured for an early lunch ....)

Darn Cup2.... I find on track in my GT4 that they really do need at least a good solid 2 Laps to warm to temp. In my RS it’s lap and Half.
I think he was on Cup1s. They were much more tricky than the Cup2 in cold/wet conditions. Imo the cup2 is bloody amazing for what it is I find as I've driven in pretty heavy rain and also in partial sleet conditions at 3 degrees and they were ok as long as one was being sensible.
I agree.

The 2’s are still hairy scary when passing over sitting water, ‘’’hovercraft time’’ is problematic..
I've only done a couple of thousand miles on Cup 2's and not driven a car with the 1's. Apart from the very wet day I picked the car up and drove home like I was Driving Miss Daisy I've been caught on one thunderstorm. I again drove like IWDMD and thank fk I did.....massive amount of standing water on the hard shoulder and part of inside lane put one car in the embankment....I manged to avoid the deepest part of the standing water but had a seriously hairy moment. Think I was doing 40 mph on a 70 mph if I had been doing anywhere near the speed limit christ knows what would have happened.

I'm not going anywhere in that kind of rain again in the GT3.

Clearly nothing on what MDL11 went through though. Jaysus!

to add something to the actual thread topic - they are really getting quite cheap in Germany

props to the owner for the mileage done
bit worrying though that it had a replacement engine already
there is also a 10k km car for sale for a few thousand more

Tricky to sell here in LHD, bought mine new end of 2015 at list, PCCB's etc, did 10k miles and 20 track days and sold it in April, one call in 4 months of advertising and the chap bought it, got £155k back.

If the next batch doesn't materialise will look for another lhd as a fantastic car.

Yes totally agree. I have ended up on my roof at Donnington when racing and was super glad I had full cage. Craner curves kitty litter, dug in sideways and over I went a few times! I find 918 seats good but still require 6 point as braking forces at work mean without I feel i’m comfortable without six point harness
what does it feel like being in a car that's rolling over? always thought I'd end up rolling over at some point on track but managed to keep it off the grass so far ! (mostly)

I can believe that. Also given how cheap they are at list in the UK and with the weak pound, it is not exactly a money saving move anymore (like it was in the past)

I think higher mileage cars will eventually hit low 100s euros, which makes them a pretty good buy as a keeper given the performance etc

Indeed, it was 1.42E/1.00 GBP when I bought it so same as UK list, now 25% more at the same 200k euro list price with VAT.

and it looks like premiums on (the cheapest) GT2RSs have reduced to acceptable levels - Weissach car was probably 320 list I think

until you land on your roof ... then the airbags don't help much and even the half-cage can make the difference
one might say the cage saved this guys life a few months back.

and I raise you ....

Good to see you walked away from this one, scary how the cage is sticking out, obviously a bolt in cage ?factory?,what are they makeing it out of and the bolts used!
One top driver said to me once, strap yourself into the seat as tight as you can, throw your arms around and pad any thing you hit and further especially on a cage.
I wonder if the ti cages get heat treated after welding, otherwise potentialy ending up as spears inside your car.
Great testimony of porsche and integral strength of the shell.

Yes, was just the standard 997 CS rear cage.
I never saw the car again after the crash, only got one photo, so couldn’t check what exactly happened to the cage

was still worth about 27k though from memory - the repair estimate made it uneconomical from the insurer's point of view. shame as I really loved that car (even if my entire family, friends and business partners did not share that sentiment)

A guy bought it to send to Italy where he had another 1 or 2 crashed 997s .... to be combined into one no accident, perfect spec, immaculate car for resale again I am sure.
