991.1 GT3-RS: GOOD TIME TO BUY...??

I find the GT3 easier on the limit than a GT4. A GT3 is far more predictable car to drive with the multilink set up, when you get to a point in the GT4's basic rear layout you start to get camber changes and rear steer effect from soft bushes and that really upsets the GT4. You really have to drive the GT4 like a Lotus or a 4C and be pin point and not go above 100%, the GT3 you can make dance and drive at 102% and the cars not really an issue.
People who say a GT4 is easy to drive are not driving it fast enough but might be getting to 85% of what the car can do very quick and think that's all it can do. And yes a GT4 at 85% is prob easier to drive than a 996 GT3 at 85% and most people only ever get to 85% I guess.
How many times have you tracked any of the cars mentioned, gt4/996 gt3/991.2 gt3? Come on chaps we're all on the same side aren't we? 993rsr I saw you were up for our next meet. Which would be just great! So how about 911R comes too and we can broker a peace agreement!
Fwiw, not sure I reach even 85% of my GT3's potential on the public roads... Maybe in a straight line on occasion

A healthy difference of opinion is no bad thing. browngt3 said:

On the road, I'm more minded to just enjoy the feel and feedback, rather than explore limits. Best leave that for the track, which more often than not reminds me how my 8 or 9 tenths is someone else's 7 or 8 tenths, judging by the way some cars come past!browngt3 said:

I heard you did the other day trying to keep up with Digga in Wales?! Fwiw, not sure I reach even 85% of my GT3's potential on the public roads... Maybe in a straight line on occasion
I had a lovely 'Long Horn' beef dinner with Taffy66 yesterday - thanks John!
I'm coming to the next meet!
I would never approach anywhere near 100% of my GT3's limits on any type of public roads as i possess a high level of self preservation..As we did in North Wales a week ago the most fun to be had is just driving in convoy within sensible limits and just enjoy the camaraderie.
Looking forward to the next meet hopefully with some new faces including Mr D..

Definitely up for a meet Brown, sure Yellow and Hunter would be too.Fwiw, not sure I reach even 85% of my GT3's potential on the public roads... Maybe in a straight line on occasion
Unfortunately 911r/ Mr Demon/ Porsche GT4 has got way too much form in this and other parishes!
Happy to be proved wrong if he deems us mere mortals worthy of his presence, and is not too busy doing chassis tuning for the 992 GT3 at Weissach.

David is actually quite a nice guy.
Anyway when you next meet if there is room for a GT4 from Devon it would be nice to put a few faces to names.

You really don't expect there to be anything factual behind his cretinous ramblings do you!
I was just curious to see whether he'd admit to hardly ever tracking any but still was able to drive at 100% (or 102%) of the car's ability. Been pretty silent ever since though surprisingly ....isaldiri said:

2 or 3 track days a year, I don't really enjoy them that much, I just go to catch up with people I know and it's a drive out.Bring the RS 4.0l to the PCGB Anglesey day, slowest time pays for the others day. sound fair ?

He ment on track not in the car park kicking tyres? A few months back you said you don’t track anymore, which is it? I’d love to see some video would be a good learning tool for us mortals?Bring the RS 4.0l to the PCGB Anglesey day, slowest time pays for the others day. sound fair ?

I don't track my cars to death, I do about 2 a year, that's it.I have laps on the tube for years. knock yourself out.
https://youtu.be/iFtTtY_WFsQ guy raced Caterhams in front we had a bit of a laugh then swapped the lead, Although I do look after my littler Spyder.
As normal it's the GT3 drivers holding you up lol !
looks slow I guess but 6.20 the other Spyder over cooks it a bit ;-) on the limit, but a nice hold, mid engine is about pin point driving a lot differnt to the GT3.
Sadly my GT4 vid at the track did not work ! I tend not to post vids anyway, I just keep them for myself.
https://youtu.be/IH5OacjJT50 base 190bhp exige when I did a lot more of them.
LIke wise a bit of a moment a 2.30 in, you can see how you have to react in a mid engine car without thinking to correct.
Cayman ends up out braking himself as it happens a the end.
again I find the GT3 far easier to drive past that grip level, where mid engine you want to drive upto it.
Not really fussed what people think of my driving to be honest.
I look forward to 2019 PCGB Anglesey day, always a nice group and quite track and I'll do a few Donny evenings in the summer.
