I'm looking at a 991 with a very strong spec - it has alcantara seats (which I like), but doesn't have the heated seating option. Whilst this isn't a complete show stopper for me, I just wondered how it may affect the value of the car come resale time.

Thoughts ?

Not by much. Is having a warm bum that important in the grand scheme of things?

Unless it's a Cab, very much a nice to have I'd say

I think it would narrow the number of potential buyers.

These days most people expect Heated Seats, and once they've had them, they do tend to become a 'must have' for a lot of people. Alcantara better than leather, but I'd still want them.

Can they be retro-fitted? I know the first answer is normally 'No', but has anyone ever explored it?

No doubt a lot more costly than ticking that box in the first place though rolleyes

That's sort of my thinking, hence the question. I know I've had them on all my cars for the past 15 years, so would be a bit strange to not have them this time around, however, with the alcantara seats, I don't think they are as necessary as they are with leather.

Most definitely - on the basis the original owner went to town on options (circa £20k by my calculations), I'm surprised they didn't tick the box for the heated seats !

It's a lovely car, and I am very tempted, however there is also a similar car with a more limited spec although with the heated seats for the same money ... first world problems !

I only wanted 2 options when I bought a 996t; heated seats and rear sensors. Ok it was an 03 car but it was a smidge over £100k to the first owner yet those 2 options cost £300 each. Surprisingly lots of them don't have these options.
Retrofit was a real pita as I recall. The now closed Promax said they had done it but the put switches on the seats as per 944 as it made the wiring that bit easier.

I had no idea whether my 991 had heated seats until 5 minutes ago (when I checked as a result of seeing this thread). It does, as it happens, but I have never used them and cannot imagine any circumstance that I ever would. I can’t understand why anyone would have ticked that box. Strong candidate for the least useful option ever fitted to a car I would say.

I think its a love or hate thing.

They make me feel like I've wet myself yikes

That and cruise control are last options I would go for!

It takes all sorts?

I thought Cruise, Heated Seats and Parking Sensors were the Holy Trinity of 'must haves' biggrin

That's what I would have thought as well, hence the dilemma, however I'm starting to think that is not so much the case.

Sell it in the summer and it won’t be.

I just bought a BMW dialy during the cold spell and it was much more front of mind!

It depends on the rest of the spec as the Black GTS @ Pescara doesn’t have heated seats but as it has such a big spec otherwise it wouldn’t bother me.
I have never sat in an Alcantara seat and wanted to put the heated seat on even if I had the option to.

As above. I never press the heat button in my Cayman GTS. Leather a different matter...

Is it just the 991.2 that has heated seats as standard then?
I had to order them on my 981, but I thought they were part of the normal spec for 911’s?

I’ve had them on two cars now, neither specced by me, and never used them, apart from the see what it does check when getting the first car.

Where do you all live to see them as an absolute requirement? Even up here in North Yorks it’s never that cold! Or if it is there’s so much bloody snow that I’m not out and about in the car anyway.

Different horses and all that.

Do you need heated seats ?

Leather yes
Alcantara no, unless cab.

I don't think it is even about location and weather. Even when I lived in NJ and we had real winters (-25c) I never pressed the heated seat buttons, apart from as a joke on a passenger once. I'd rather a curry if I want my arse on fire.

Heated seats and steering wheel for me. Absolutely love them!
