To me, my Porsche 997 C2 is much more then the engine.
Yes, I love the sound, the rumble, that perfect heel n' toed downshift (once in a while I manage to achieve one).
I also have a '67 Volvo 1800 S that is much louder an where the engine is much more "in you face" all the time while driving.
Also my practical car is an Audi S4 Avant with a 4.2 V8 that sings a beautiful tune when pressed on.

So by all means, I'm a true petrol-/pistonhead.
But, all my cars are more than just their engines.
Aesthetics are very important to me. The 911 is a beautiful car to look at, inside and out.
I love the seating position, the ergonomics of the cabin.

So yes, it will be a sad day the last ICE 911 will be produced, but I'd drive a 911 EV when there are no petrol version anymore.

From an enjoyability point of view I completely agree..I have driven a few EV including the quickest Tesla. Certainly the first time you accelerate hard it is just astonishing. I do thing that if I had a very busy traffic-filled 50MPH commute, I would possibly thing of an EV, not for the performance, but for the silence. it does mare stop and go traffic much more bearable.
I will be hanging on to my ICE Porsches indefinitely, but I would not bet on this being the future. I think it will become the past in the next 20 years.

My old 997RS will still be a rattly Mezger heavy-clutched item, far behind in terms of general purpose, silence, or comfort - a pain to drive in stop and go traffic, but still very special to me when I have a chance to run.
