I dont know whether its because the weather has been so miserable lately or because I am looking forward to a summer of driving but last night I dreamt I was driving a manual Miami Blue GT3 with PCCB brakes on the Grimsel pass in Switzerland on a summers day.

I was chasing (and being followed by), a few good friends.

The dream was vivid
The dream was epic
The dream was in 4K Ultra High Definition on an O-LED screen!

I CANNOT WAIT for the sun to come out and to grab the keys to my car and go for a drive!

I have a road trip to Spain booked which I am massively looking forward to but that is in September!

I think I might have to travel out to Andermatt for a couple of days and do the Nufenen, Furka, St Gotthard, Susten and GORGEOUS Grimsel Pass.

I have owned my 997 GT3 for just over 5 years and I still love driving it. You guys with your brand new GT cars must be chomping at the bit to get some great roads under the wheels!

Where are you off in your car this summer? What have you got planned?thumbup

Great idea for a thread, I was just thinking about a road trip. We did Bruges a few weeks ago (can't beat Flexiplus) for a couple of days & also to stock up some wine but didn't manage to get much further due to a lack of available time and also not wanting to be driving constantly. I think for me the best trips also need some balance driving / sightseeing / eating or whatever.

For July given a few more days to spare, driving the Stelvio / Sustenpass is certainly on the list, I've not got much further than that though in terms of planning. Living in Luxembourg a few years ago gave us great access to most of Europe, unfortunately I didn't have the Porsche at the time to make the best use of it. Look forward to reading about other trips, I'm sure there'll be some good photos too hopefully. PH definitely a good source of ideas to plan a trip.

Similar route as our little 3 car convoy last year (997.1 GT3, 993 GT2 rep & a 350Z interloper!) We avoided Switzerland as it's so car-unfriendly these days ;(

Heading to Germany over the May bank holiday weekend, me in my 981 Cayman GTS, mate in his 718 Boxster.

Anyone know some good driving roads in the Black Forest?

Ahhh... the best thing (IMO) one can use their Porsche for: a Euro road trip with loads of mountain passes and some free flowing roads. Heavenly...

Would love to go on one this year but no plans yet. Looking forward to hearing your plans.

Incidentally, anyone up to date on whether the UK has now signed up to sharing of driver details for traffic camera tickets. I think I got flashed once in Austria last year (damn 100kph on m-ways) but never got it through.

Here is last year's East Switzerland, amazing!

I drove across the Southern Alps last week driving along part of the Route Napoleon and ending up with driving over the Grand St Bernard pass into Switzerland. Including the drive from the UK is was 1600km. Sadly in my Cayenne S Diesel but will be doing the same drive next year and hope to do it in my GT3.

I do think it’s a bit strange how people contribute to the GT3 thread for six months before they get their car and then it goes quiet.

You might have to look harder to find a bad road there than good! It's a brilliant place. Take a detour there or back via the ring as well if you haven't been before (or even if you have!)

Think yourself lucky. Last time I was in that area was July. There were 5 of us mountain biking, so we'd had to drive over in....

...two Volkswagen Transporter vans. Woo hoo!

Great Vid!!

Yes, I have to say that I am slightly concerned about Switzerland's attitude to cars having 'suffered' a little, shall we say, 'Imperial Entanglement' 3 years ago in southern France....................But the roads and scenery there look soooo good

The route 500 into Baden-baden (nice town btw) is the 'famous' one but honestly any of the roads around there are brilliant and mostly empty wink

Hoping to take my new GTS on the Bilbao boat in July, driving east, up and over the Pyrenees onto the alpes for a couple of days. Head north east and go back up the Black Forest roads before turning west to the train.

This was my mileage chart when we drove our California for 10 days in the glorious July summer of 2013, so a trip is well overdue.

Surrey 12500
Metz 12896
Konstanz 13167
Innsbruck 13316
Bormio 13450
Zurich 13641
Thionville 13883 (not a recommended stop as nothing to see although it was a bed for the night)
Surrey 14300

Got something like a 500 Euro fine for not displaying a Vignette in Italy mad

Might have been Switzerland? There are tolls in Italy, no "vignette".

I was wondering that too. Knew the Swiss had them, but not Italians.
